Fall in love with Helva and the other brainships♥
I first read this on the recommendation of my mom, a life-long Anne McCaffrey fan and all-around avid reader with superb taste herself, and am so glad to have listened to her when it comes to this series. This world is certainly different from Pern but the characters are every bit as unique, every bit as realistic and believable as any of the Pern characters created by McCaffrey. I LOVE Helva, the brainship character from the first book of this series, "The Ship Who Sang". No spoilers here, but I can only implore you to please read this series at least once in your life; I cannot imagine anyone regretting it.

Hilariously wrong
This is not the substance of what I'd call any kind of Sunday-school material and most assuredly isn't for anyone who isn't an adult. That being said, Jack Black and Kyle Gass have a very good chemistry; the music is skillfully written and rendered, and the lyrics to these songs will have you rolling in the floor trying to catch your breath from laughing so hard.
