Fine.
The story was compelling, enough so that the excessive metaphoric descriptions were redundant and distracting ("Her skin stripped off her shoulders, then her torso, and fell into a puddle on the floor. She was only blood and bone." [Zombie apocalypse?]) ("A balloon of loneliness that she never fully recognized before burst as if hit by a pin. Tiny stars came out of the balloon and glittered throughout her body." [Where are the unicorn and rainbow?]). I felt as though Sheehan thought the reader wouldn't be able to appreciate the character's feelings, and I prefer the author have some confidence in the reader.
Dismiss that minor complaint and read the book!
