This beautifully photographed black & white movie, from the real, true hollywood system, is a lot of fun to watch in spite of a script that's weak in some areas, an annoying sub-character and a stultified performance by one of the the leading men, Joel McCrea.
McCrea plays a frustrated engineer married to the beautiful Claudette Colbert. She is convinced that without her he'd succeed, so...it's off to Palm Beach for a quick divorce and a new, rich husband (one who can help her current husband). The movie moves well and has incredible sets that include, but are not limited to, Pennsylvania Station, railway travel and some pretty wonderful home design. There are lots of fun characters (The Weenie King rocks!) and Rudy Vallee and Mary Astor are both wonderful in this. The movie, while not being the best, is still very entertaining and very much worth watching. ***
