Incredible sound for a crazy low price, great modern streaming and connectivity
2 personnes sur 2 ont jugé cet avis utile. The TX-NR696 is everything I've always wished I'd had in an A/V receiver, but never had. First off, I have a high-end speaker system that I knew had the right performance and specifications when I purchased it in 2003, but despite its quality, I've never been able to get the right sound out of it. The output was always off regardless of equalizer settings. Treble was not clean until pumped so high it was harsh. Base wasn't pronounced enough until pumped so high it made everything sound muddy.
With the NR696's auto-setup based upon the wired microphone, it tailored the output to the the speakers perfectly, even determining the optimum cutoff frequency for the subwoofer. Now everything is crystal clear, and the base is full-but-clean even at volumes low enough for my family to sleep while I'm watching TV late at night. I can't imagine it sounding much better.
The many HDMI inputs, the ability to receive sound via ARC on HDMI, the two zones of speakers, and other A/V features are great too -- just what one would expect.
Finally, the ability to stream sound is phenomenal. I used to have to jump through hoops to get a Bose Soundtouch system to connect with phones or Pandora nearly every time I used it. Not so with the Onkyo. Pandora streams /from/ the onkyo, and can be controlled via iOS, via the TV screen, and even via the one-line display on the receiver, and it always works. Likewise with the AirPlay 2 -- any time I want to stream from the phone, there's no need to mess with Bluetooth (unless I want to use Bluetooth); just tap on where to send the sound via AirPlay and it goes right to the Onkyo, even if the receiver is in standby mode.
