Garmin DriveLuxe 50 NA LMTHD

New Garmin series seems to be down featured yet has increased performance.

My old Garmin, a 3597LMTD, is many years old so I thought I give one of the newer models a try. After doing a fair bit of research the Driveluxe looked like a good choice. I can't find many new features and have lost the ability to connect to my EcoRouteHD to get vehicle information. I do like the new ability to receive text message via voice on the GPS. The display resolution is nice. I like the speed of the recalculations and thank you to Garmin for getting rid of the "recalculating" message. Yeah! There are some what I would call "Gotchas' but I really can't say that they are new. Just for fun I tried to find my local Target store about a mile away. It insisted that the nearest one was 16 miles away. So here I am sitting the parking lot of my Target with the GPS telling me the closest one is 16 miles. I found that somewhat amusing. Well why didn't I think to search for "Super Target"? So if I were in a unknown place it would have me drive 32 extra miles for a bottle of Aspirin. The voice command feature works well as long you don't have the radio or air conditioner on. It's funny that some of the commands are not on the menu for example "Weather" and "reroute". I guess they are optional depending on how you have it setup. For example weather on works if you have the SmartLink running on your phone. I did have an issue on i75 on the south edge of Kentucky. The GPS went crazy. The map spinning in circles and voice telling me to get off on every exit. Might have been a satellite outage. So all in all it is a good unit. But if you have a fairly new top of the line unit you won't see much difference.

I like it.

This is the second cover that I have purchased. The first one lasted more than seven years and died with the truck. I really like that this cover can be fairly easily removed and doesn't block the rear window when folded up. It allows access to the entire bed when necessary.

Parker Jotter Standard CT Ball Pen (Blue)

Parker makes a great pen.

Parker has always been the industry standard for a ball point pen. I love em. Nice feel in the hand. Skip free writing. A bit pricy but miles better than the foreign junk that is all over the place.
