As with the Grieg/Sibelius disc, I don’t know what magic they worked but this recording sounds phenomenal. More presence, space, and impact than on the RBCD

Fine modern performances in clear sound
This set is deleted and hard to find. It has been maligned in some quarters for the coupling, but I personally enjoy the contrast between Mozart and Webern. The Mozart is “big band” with a traditional sound but modern tempi. Yes the strings use vibrato. And reflecting the significance of Mozart for Webern, these are lyrical performances of Webern’s published orchestral works that complement the Mozart quite well. I would prefer the Mozart to be played with a hair more space and flexibility but these are fine modern performances and better than most recent readings.
