Bitter Glory by Richard M. Watt
First: About the author: Richard Watt is one of the special historians who write history that is factual and insightful AND produce very READABLE books. The notes and footnotes and index is there. Reads like well-written prose. His first book -- Dare Call it Treason -- is about the French mutiny in WWI is a classic. His second book -- The Kings Depart -- concerns the end of WWI and provides a wonderful overview of post-WWI German history and the Versailles Treaty process. HIs third book -- Bitter Glory -- tells the story of the newly-created independent Poland between the World Wars with historical background on the life and career of J. Pilsudski. This is a very-readable overview of Poland between the wars and it's foreign relations with Germany, Russia, etc. Typical for a R. Watt book it's easy to read and properly documented. An excellent introduction to Eastern European affairs 1918--1939.

    Hanon Piano Exercises
Schaum edition of famous Hanon Piano Exercises. These simple, repetitive exercises build finger dexterity and strength for both hands without being boring. A bonus is that playing these exercises on the piano a few minutes a day with mechanical / weighted action will not only improve your keyboard skills but will make you a much better guitar player -- especially for the left hand used to finger the notes on frets. I recommend this book to my guitar students and to any piano player. They are fundamental. Marc Mathieu MM Consulting

Great 1st novel in Slough House series.
1st in a series "Slough House." Excellent contemporary espionage novel. Interesting plot. More funny than dramatic. I'll certainlly continue to read books in this series.
