Good Value BUT

After reading some of the previous reviews was a little nervous about ordering but for it's supposed features and price, decided to take a chance. As others have found, there is no battery connection at all, just a short red and black wire in its relatively small battery compartment. Since the power requirements in the small operation sheet indicated that it could handle 12 to 20 volts, I initially series two nine volt batteries which ended up working fine however they rattled around in the compartment without padding. Later I bought two 4 cell AAA battery packs off eBay for 12volts total which fit fine. Note, if you plan to use an AC adapter, you will need to use rechargeable cells. Other that this, was well pleased with the units performance with one small UI exception. The unit always defaults to 20m on turn on and if you happen yo want to operate on 160 or 80m it takes 17 clicks to go through all bands to get there. The is no way I've found to go down, only up. All in all, still good value for money and happy with its performance and accuracy.
