Item was packaged very well. Shipping took longer than expected, for the item wasn't dropped at the carrier's quick enough. Item was as described and in good working order. I do wish the price would've been a bit lower but still a good buy!

Genuine Yamaha Short Shank 16E Silver Cornet Mouthpiece NEW

Short Shank deep cup for British Brass Band type sound, not general use
I have played trumpet and cornet for over 55 years. For about 50 of those years, I have used Bach 1 or 1 1/2 C for most of my playing. I recently moved up to the Eb chair in our brass band (although I've played Eb for 45 years). I am moving from Eb trumpet to Eb cornet, in order to get a more "traditional" sound. The standard Eb cornet mourhpiece is acknowledged to be in the Yamaha/Schilke 7D4d, which is a pretty small cup. I just can't get enough lip into the 7 rim, so I was looking for something closer to the Bach 1 1/2, which is about where this mouthpiece is. While it does get a very dark British Brass Band sound, it may be a little TOO deep, giving it an almost flugel sound. I would like it to have a D Schilke cup and flat 4 rim, very open d shank, but this is as close as I can get in a standard (non-custom) mouthpiece.
I would not recommend this as a general mouthpiece, but specific for someone who wants a super dark, almost flugelhorn sound. The short shank is also more adapted to Shepherd's crook cornets. So it is not a general purpose mouthpiece.
