Better than sending tests to Lab

I was in need of some regular monitoring of Radon levels in various parts of my house/basement. Rather than setting out test cylinders usually at about $10 each then sending them to a lab for $30 each time, I bought this used one for $84 which made much more sense to me. I can also let a friend borrow it to test their home as well. I've already gotten about $200 worth of value out of this purchase.

Why spend more for an HX9V when the older HX5V is almost as great?

For half the price of the newer HX9V you get just two improvements that I'll likely never need as a non-professional photographer. This HX5V camera has 10X zoom and 10.2 MP. I don't see the need to have huge files shooting at 16 MP...I don't print photos larger than 8x10. 10X zoom starts at the same wide angle (25mm)as the HX9V and telephoto ends at 250mm which unless you're shooting a space shuttle launch from 8 miles away I don't see the need for a zoom that goes to 380mm. All the other really cool features are the same like isweep panorama, smile detection, automatic corrections for great photos and HDMI video for a 1080p TV. There are some slight case improvements that make the HX9V easier to hold and the flash and mics are located better but if you can find this older model new or used it is definately worth the money.

Plug & Play software was great. Power button on the base is a wonderful feature.
