The real crime was committed by the director, killing a classic book,

Bought this after reading the book, which is a great classic read. I was looking forward to seeing the scenes set out in the book on film and the characters played out. Right so what did I actually get. Well the DVD played and was not scratched and the cover works well at hiding and protecting the disc, unfortunately and especially for the actors named on the cover it did not hide the fact that this is probably the most crap film I have ever watched, I'm honestly surprised anyone involved with its making ever got work again. The undoubted highlight was when the camera person shook the camera to show the madness that the main character Rodion Raskolnikov was suffering, the worst attempt at a special effect I have ever seen. Save yourself the hour and a half of your time that I wasted from my life watching this and go for a walk instead. If anyone wants the DVD its free to a good home, I would be embarrased to sell it. Don't think bad of the book which is truly a classic and well worth reading
