Pocekt PC - HP IPAQ hx2495 - Best of Breed 2006 ?

My prior PDA was a Sony Clie SJ22. I decided to upgrade to enjoy MP3 audio, Video and wireless networking. I chose to switch to Pocket PC (over Palm) because I've heard that Palm is on its way out and I figured that the problems with earlier MS Windows based PDAs had been mostly overcome. So, I took the plunge. Before buying the HX2495 I read dozens of reviews and the theme that was constant was that this model was "as good as it gets." Having used it for just over a month I can report that MS based PDAs still have quirks. Lots of lock-up and reboot when just running MS apps. Poor power switch behavior - doesn't always turn on without a reset. Even at 525mhz, switching apps is sluggish. HP has been wounderful to deal with. Very responsive and helpful. Great company. I used to hate Palm's HotSync, now I miss it. Microsoft's ActiveSync is a really nasty by comparison and relies on Outlook 2003 Dlls for much of its functionality. I'm tempted to see if life is better with a serial connection rather than a USB connection?? Overall the X2495 s a nice machine. I'm happy I didn't buy into an older platform. Battery life is great unless you accidentally leave it on (which is easy to do). I'd probably buy this machine again if faced with the same criteria.
