Mix and fix

My 4 yr old son is a big fan of cement mixers. We tried to assemble a mixer from other Lego kits we had, but didn't succeed in creating a barrel, so we went ahead and ordered a cement mixer set. The company was good, they sent us the product as promised on time. The main problem was in the set itself. As usual, putting the model together was fun. He was very excited and put it together immediately. The barrel can be rotated with a pin, so he gave it a spin and the barrel fell off. We fixed it and tried again carefully, it survived... It's difficult for a 4 yr old to be gentle with a construction car and turn it at a turtle speed, so we kept fixing it about 15-20 times before we decided to change it slightly and deviate from the instruction. Slightly better but didn't fix the problem. The cement gate at the back of the car didn't perform well, too. We still have it around, but I think I know why it has been discontinued now. Nevertheless, it's Lego, it's fun, and we're going to re-use the barrel in a car of our own design.
