Not a beginner's camera, but it gives excellent quality images

+ Doesn't require a lot of trips into the menus to do what you want; just push a button and turn a dial
+ Very capable, very good in low light, esp. with a VR lens attached
- Newbies will not be able to figure out how to undo certain settings when they're playing around. Plan on spending some quality time with the manual.
- It's big and heavy; takes some dedication to carry around and bring back those great images

Very sharp and a great value
1 personnes sur 1 ont jugé cet avis utile. The lens doesn't look impressive, with its small front element. It is small and light. But oh my goodness is it ever sharp! I bought it for scanning negatives, along with the Nikon ES-2 digitizer set. It is an easy matter to use focus peaking and focus magnification to focus right down to the film grain. This was worth buying just for scanning negatives and slides, but I may actually use it as a macro lens one day as well.

Good quality product, good price
1 personnes sur 1 ont jugé cet avis utile. I bought this for my girlfriend and getting her reports back. The hidden clasp took her a day or so to get used to. The sapphire glass crystal is nearly scratch proof, which is good, as she's clumsy and will surely bang it on a door frame here and there. I thought this was a good choice for her because it has some nice functionality without looking TOO masculine. She wears a lot of black and gray, so it matches her wardrobe too. As a watch collector, I especially like that its date window is at 6:00 instead of 3:00; it preserves the dial balance.
