Simple device for expanding your broadband router
This little box (the footprint is only 3.5 x 5 inches) does the trick when you need more ethernet ports to connect to your router. I didn't even know this kind of simple solution existed -- I thought I was going to need to buy a new router with more ports. Instead, I just connected this box (with a basic ethernet patch cord) to my router, plugged it in to a power source (in my case, I'm using my UPS box to ensure surge protection), and instantly I had four more ports. It does not come with any ethernet cables, however, so you will need at least one to connect to your router. (I'm sure any ethernet cable will do, but I'm using a cat 6 shielded cable to be sure there no interference with any other devices.)

Excellent router/modem for CenturyLink DSL
My first XyZel modem lasted 7 years, but finally the wi-fi component became erratic. The CL tech who came out to investigate the problem recommended this model; he said it’s one of the better ones CenturyLink uses. I haven’t been disappointed. The four Ethernet ports come in handy for connecting my two PCs, weather station, security cam and a few other devices (connected through a port extender). I prefer Ethernet when possible due to better/faster broadband signals, but this router offers solid wi-fi signals, too. And you can’t beat the price of this refurbished version.

Great features and price
2 personnes sur 2 ont jugé cet avis utile. When I recently signed up for CenturyLink broadband service, I checked the cost of purchasing a router from the company. When I saw that they wanted $99 (and for an unknown model), I decided to check other options for purchasing my own router. I wanted one with four Ethernet ports for a direct connection to my DVD players, laptop, etc. (As convenient as wi-fi is, there are just some devices that work better with a direct connection.) I also wanted one that had top ratings from other users.
Although I was doing a self-install of my CL DSL service, the CL tech was there putting in a new line for me. When he heard I had purchased my router on E-bay, he rolled his eyes and told me that the last time he worked with a customer who purchased a used router, it wouldn't even light a single LED. Well, I can tell you that the one I purchased from this seller has been working flawlessly ever since in was first connected to my DSL service. The signal strength is more than adequate for my small apartment, and the Ethernet ports work perfectly. I even have two to spare, but I'm sure I'll come up with some other device to connect (maybe a new weather station??).
