Indispensable for practice, performance, and writing

The few negative reviews I see for this pedal come from people who obviously didn't read the manual. You can change the order in which it operates (it goes Record -> Overdub -> Playback) by default, but you can switch it to go Record -> Playback -> Overdub using the steps outlined in the manual. You can also make it so that double-tapping the pedal during playback will make it stop playing at the end of the current loop. This is good if you want to take a solo over the chord progression you've just been playing, and then go back to playing the chords live. Once you understand the basics of how it's set up, it becomes *real* easy to work with, but it does take some practice. Sound quality and durability are both phenomenal. I like to keep the level down around 75-80% just so my loops fall into the background during a solo, but for overdubs and layering, you'd probably want to keep that higher. It's just a great pedal, and a wonderful practice tool as well.

Takes the guesswork out of biasing your amp

I recently bought an amp that didn't have bias points, and I didn't feel like soldering in resistors or taking my luck probing around making smoke or worse. With this tool, I was able to tune my amp's bias in about 15 minutes (next time it will take much less time), and now it's running just like it ought to. Take your time, work in an area with plenty of light, be careful, and you'll find value in this tool.
