Worth paying more for a good one
It works well. My last one lasted 11 months of daily use.
Is it a good value? Not particularly, it's too expensive. But it just works, unlike the cheap one I bought first, which required plugging/replugging to get it to see the headphones. Also, the headphones sound better than cheap junk (it has a better D/A converter).
Another alternative is the Apple Lightning->1/8" adapter + a dual-lightning adapter. But even with the Apple-branded one you still have to unplug/replug some of the time (I think the dual adapter is Apple, but the other one definitely is).
Never mind everything else I say here, this is a 5-star product. Definitely recommended.

Thirty seconds and your headphones are like new
These pads snap right in and just work. They're indistinguishable from the originals.

Multi-use is right
I actually bought this to use as filling for a padded wrist rest, but I'd use it for sound insulation if I were building a studio. Regular insulation is cheaper, but it's not fun to deal with.
