Dramatic and exciting.
Stokowski's 1950 recording of the Sibelius First Symphony is dramatic where Beecham's, from 1951/52, is drowsy. And the sound of the Stokowski transfer is remarkably good for a recording of that vintage.

Brahms Worth Listening To
Although I did not care for his recordings of the Brahms 1st symphony, his recordings of the 2d and 4th symphonies are better than I expected, bringing out rhythmic subtleties and inner voices while maintaining dramatic intensity. The sound of the later recordings, as could be expected, was better than that of the earlier ones.
