Turns out to be a poor buy, in need of repair.
This particular used vacuum pump 1) will not pull a vacuum below 5500 microns (the manufacturer's specification is 25 microns), and 2) has a ruined shaft seal that drips most of the vacuum oil out overnight just sitting turned off (leaks faster while running). Since it can't contain its oil, it has undoubtedly been run without oil. scoring the vacuum vanes and compromising its ability to pull a full vacuum. Since it is an American made JB Industries (a high quality brand), it can be rebuilt and parts are available, but with the extra expense and labor, the final cost will be more than it's worth. Should have gambled on a different one. This is the risk you take buying untested equipment...
