Keyboard layout needs improvement
1 personnes sur 1 ont jugé cet avis utile. At first I really loved this keyboard, but after a few days, I started to notice issues I have with the design.
First issue: The keyboard layout. Right next to the backspace key is the HOME key. I'm a fast typist and make fast mistakes, which means when I use my pinky to reach over to the backspace key, I keep pressing the HOME key and then all of a sudden I'm typing at the beginning of my sentence. To correct this, I have to push the END key, which is located right next to the cursor keys. However, the cursor keys are not aligned like a traditional keyboard, but integrated with the rest of the keys, under the ENTER key and SHIFT key. So when I reach over to the end key, I have to make a conscience effort to press the right key. On a traditional keyboard, the cursor keys are laid out in a upside down T pattern/Tetris shape and below the HOME, END, INSERT, Page Up/Page Down keys. Well, on this keyboard, all these keys are integrated into the main layout which puts them inline with the BACKSPACE, ENTER, SHIFT, and PIPE key. As I type this review, I notice I have an issue with the location of the apostrophe/quotation key. I keep pressing the enter key. It's like a space is missing, or the keys are too close together.
Second issue: This keyboard is basically the backlit keyboard, but it's missing the back lights (LEDS); Hence, they keys are dark (where on a non-backlit keyboard, they letters painted white, or black lettering on white keys). It's extremely difficult to see the keys in a dimly lit room. I wouldn't need to see the keys as I can type without looking at the keys, but since I'm not familiar with this layout, I keep pressing the wrong keys as they're not in the same traditional keyboard layout.
I'm thinking of opening up this keyboard housing and installing LEDs - or just biting the bullet and buying the more expensive backlit Perixx keyboard that also has the USB ports. This current model has the USB and other areas that are available on the more expensive keyboard "block off", so essential, you could hack this keyboard and get all the components working - or just buy the more expensive keyboard.
Third issue: The location of the trackball mouse buttons. If they were at the top instead of the bottom of the keyboard, it would be a much better layout. When using the trackball, which I really like, I tend to drop the pinky on to the RIGHT CLICK button, prompting the menu to appear, which is annoying. But then again, I had the same issue with my middle finger when using a traditional mouse, which is one reason why I switched to using a trackball. I'm used to the thumb driven trackball, but I'm really digging this giant size trackball. Reminds be of the Centipede game trackball. It's almost a big as a cue ball.) It would have been nice to have the right mouse button right next to the right side of the trackball. That way, I can right-click with my 3rd finger, and left-click with my thumb. I just now realized that the left mouse button sits in a natural resting position when using the trackball without accidentally left-clicking. That's when I noticed that my 3rd finger (ring finger) sits naturally to the right of the trackball - which would be a perfect location for the right mouse button.
Overall, I like this keyboard, but I should have splurged for the more expensive model. I really like the mechanical keys as I can really fly when I type, plus they sound cool and remind me of the old IBM keyboards. I type 80+ WPM and just can't get that type of speed using a keyboard with "Chicklet" keys. Also, I'm thinking of adding something beneath the keyboard to extend it on the left side making they keyboard sit in a more natural position. I'm a person that uses the keyboard on my lap, and I find that my ergo position is compromised. My left hand is OK, but the right is angled way over to the left at a 45 degree angle to get to the proper ASDF JKL; home position. I've been using a Logitech touchpad keyboard for years. Although smaller, this had the same issue. Coupled with using a mouse all the time, I've developed really bad tendonitis in my right shoulder. So I need to find something to extend the left side so that it sits ergonomically on my lap. Maybe I should get a desk? Something to mention, this keyboard is really heavy. I like that. It doesn't slip off my lap like the lighter Logitech keyboards. Reminds me of the old days with the IBM XT PCs, when a computer was a computer.
I think I may look into other Perixx mechanical keyboards with a more traditional layout. I want the back light keys, but I also want the familiar layout, not this truncated layout. Overall, 3 out of 5 stars.

Not bright at all
For a bulb with 10 LEDs, these bulbs are extremely dim, especially when compared to the other bulbs available from this seller. Look for the "ultra bright" bulbs as those are extremely bright (blue bulb below). These yellow bulbs would have been brighter if they were all on one side like the blue bulb.

Love these switchback bulbs!
These look really cool in my motorcycle turn signals. They're bright enough to make the turn signals look like a light bar. These best part is when you turn on the flasher, it alternates to a bright amber. These look equally as cool in my old 91 Sentra that have clear turn signal housing. The clear 6000k light matches the headlights and the turn signal / flashers look awesome, too, when put into action. Too bad they don't have these in red/amber. I had to go through another seller and they're not shaped like these bulbs.
