The Best Book on American Freshwater Fly Tying
Mike Valla has done it again. Founding Flies covers a majority of trout fly development in the U.S. Valla expertly provides an in depth depiction of influential fly tiers and their patterns. In doing so the reader is also informed of each tiers influences and and how the patterns were developed. The insight Valla has into each tier and American fly tying in general knows no bounds. The photography of flies is exceptional and offers a glimpse of patterns tied by the developers of the fly as well as examples by contemporary professional tiers including Calla himself. This book is a true treasure to those interested in the history and development of fly tying.

Whiting Value And Quality Floats High Above All Others
Whiting Farms products are the industry standard in fly tying feathers. Some think that the products are expensive but the value lies in the lack of waste and the quality of the feathers. There is no comparison in feather suppleness, barb stiffness, or barb density. The selective breeding throughout the past century culminated in the past 30 years by Dr. Tom Whiting has provided the fly tying community with tremendous advances and availability of quality materials.
