Bulova 98C131 Men's Devil Diver LIMITED EDITION OCEANOGRAPHER Watch
    02 août 2019
    The Best Bulova Reissue yet...
This Bulova re-issue is a faithful reproduction of their famous 1972 "Devil Diver" (666ft, get it?) which was their first to achieve this depth and one of the first in the industry. This Limited Edition features a great orange dial and is a faithful reproduction of the original. It has a Swiss Sellita SW200 movement which is very good and keeps great time. It has a 120 click coin-edged bezel which is smooth to operate and unique indices filled with Lumabrite. The lume performance is pretty good. The bracelet is in the style of Jubilee in keeping with the original Devil Diver but uses pins rather than screws and does have a diver's extension. It has a stamped clasp but solid endlinks. It has a 20mm lug width so there are plenty of after market strap option you might want in that size (I'm planning a put a stingray skin strap on this to see how it wears). Bulova has done a number of reissues recently and to my mind, this is the best of them. The others are too big for me (44mm or larger) and use an entry level Miyota movement that is not a great performer. At 41mm, this is an ideal size and with its cushion case (like the Seiko Turtle), sits very comfortably and wears slightly smaller on the wrist. The colour and polished case gives it plenty of wrist presence. If you are looking for an orange dial watch with better aesthetics than the Seiko options and a Swiss movement like a Doxa but without the eye-watering price tag - this is hard to beat. It is great value, a classic design and its from a famous and storied brand. Just 666 pieces of this watch were made and I doubt it will ever leave my collection. If you want one, don't hesitate.

Case Cutlery Blue Kirinite Wharncliffe Sway Back Folding Pocket Knife EDC 13534

    A sweet little traditional....
This is a sweet little knife and Case have done a nice job on the build quality of it. Well suited to carrying in the watch pocket of your jeans when you want something really compact and don't want a pocket clip hanging outside your pants. Being a small slipjoint with a half stop, it won't scare anyone but it is large enough to do useful work - particularly around the office. Is it good value? Not really no. I think the price is relatively high for a knife this size and made from these materials. That said, I'm glad I've got it and it is getting a fair bit of pocket time.
