Sage Z-Axis 390-4 Fly Rod 9 Foot 3 Weight 4 Piece

excellent rod

This Sage Z-axis 390 is an excellent rod especially at distances beyond 20 feet. It shoots line very well and maintains accuracy. At distances less than 20 feet it loses some of its "feel" yet I can easily make curve casts and reach mends. I have yet to fish with the rod, although I have given it a good workout on the lawn to become familiar with its characteristics. It will get a good workout next month on a fishing trip to PA. I believe this rod will excel at medium distances in the wind with low water conditions. I like the Z- axis. Too bad Sage no longer makes them. Thanks.

Nice light weight reel

The Sage 3,4,5 reel is perfect for the Sage TXL-F fly rod which is why I purchased this reel. This is an ultra light, small stream package. The reel is very light in weight to compliment this light weight rod. The reel is well made and has some drag control but palming the spool will be necessary on a large aggressive fish. I bought this for the upcoming 2016 season so I have not yet used it. I did put backing on the reel and it operates smoothly and has a nice audible "click" in and out.

Excellent speed loader case

These are nice. I have one for 357 and now 44 mag. Great for carrying two speed loaders for hunting or other outdoor activities, e.g. hiking especially where larger predators are common. Thanks
