The most difficult thing involved with the kit is applying the decals. Everything else it straight forward and well explained on the app. The down side is that different activities require disassembly which is a little hair raising to watch. Glad i didn't pay full price!!!!

Seen at store,was very excited to build with my son, a "snap together" build which
1:DOES require a phone to operate in all functions (no "stand alone" mode??!)
2: does NOT do all functions in a single "configuration" (must re-purpose servo/motor/sensor to do other function(s)) i.e. remove steering servo to use grab arm, remove drive motor to use as head turning motor.....?
3: app is very time consuming to complete build "missions" to make single function action and to get back to the droid control interface.
4: lack of integration upgrades and stand alone play .
Has huge potential but at $20+ per module (most seem to be in the $40 range) and not knowing how many you can link together without some other module being needed can get very pricey .

Grandsons love it. Because of the Covid kids need educational toys to help them learn and be entertained.

Good First Build for Kids

Certainly a well-developed kit. Good clear instructions (app), beautiful plastic molding, crystal clear parts. Bits stick together magnetically with a pretty good feel. I think most tech-minded kids will enjoy it. My only concern is long-term appeal. Once it's together and you do the missions, it's not so fresh any more and may gather dust with other tech toys. They need to make MANY dedicated R2D2 expansion kits with more missions to keep things interesting. This should be a starter kit, capable of being built up to do MUCH more.Lire l'avis complet...

Great beginning robotics

My 11 year old son and his two friends had fun with this for hours. They loved the authentic sounds, the drawing option, and the proximity sensor. Works great with an iPad. Imagination Stimulator

Bought this for my granddaughter 11 years old.
She had lots of fun building, testing, playing with the various configurations and then tearing it done and start over.
She even showed me how "simple" (her words) it was to connect the magnetic circuits.
She is even dreaming up new configurations, mostly was way to combine all her favorite functions so that they can work without having to be reconfigured.

How great a product is this --- the next day when we meet for lunch my granddaughter can over to me and gave me the biggest hug!! Worth every penny and many more!!Lire l'avis complet...

Attention, App retired!

Sphero, who acquired the Littlebits retired the relevant Droid Inventor app. So it is not functionable. You buy plastic and some electronics. LittleBits modules still works, however this kit contains 3 outputs, 1 input and 1 power module and 1 wire.If you have a base kit, or other kit with electronics, you can use these, but that is all. It depends on the price. I don't recommend this Droid Inventor Kit, just for a few dolars, and as addition to your kits. I don't recommend sphero products, because this company retires apps, and support, this was the case with the cloudbit and Sphero 1-0 balls...Lire l'avis complet...

Great for all ages

Gave it to my brother for Christmas. He stopped opening all his other gifts to play with this toy. His 3 year old all the way up to his 9 year old all enjoyed the many features.
