George Hamilton Spoofs Zorro

I have been enamored of Zorro since Disney featured stories about him on "The (original) Mickey Mouse Club" in the 1950s. When Antonio Banderas reprised the role, my geriatric heart still throbbed over Zorro's escapades. George Hamilton, however, takes the character of Zorro to a different level altogether, spoofing the hero as twins, one of which is steadfast and serious, the other flamboyant. Originally released on July 17, 1981, this is NOT a politically correct version of alternative lifestyles. This is a movie that is meant to poke fun at the movie genre, not the lifestyle. Lots of fun. Light humor, moves quickly

Just a lightweight bit of fun to share with friends. Laugh out loud humor in places. Silly, bloodless, just a bit sexy. Larger than life characters. We had a lot of laughs watching this and it was so fast and the accents were so awful that we needed to watch it more than once to catch all the embedded jokes. Plus+++George Hamilton, who is just--who he is! And playing two different characters at the same time! Worth the cost of buying this DVD and worth keeping on hand.Lire l'avis complet...

Sillyness in the style and era of Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein

The last time I saw this movie was a LONG time ago on a VHS rental tape no doubt. Maybe even in a theatre. So there is some bias on my part as I remember it fondly to begin with.

Still, after watching it with someone who had not seen it I feel this film holds up. It moves along at a decent pace, and is filled with all kinds of humor. We recently watched Spaceballs and I can say that this one holds up better after all this time. Perhaps that is due to the scene setting music that is missing in Spaceballs.

While this film is recommended for mature audiences it doesn't have any flesh or blood, simply adult humor. Along the lines of Airplane, or a Mel Brooks film, with maybe a dash of Monty Python for good measure.

Hamilton playing a parody of (his?) typical Hollywood leading man is done well, and he manages to pull off a few distinct personalities with the help of both make up and wardrobe.

Each actor does his / her part, Leibman in particular.

It's silly, fun and a very nice distraction from real life which is what it should be!

ZORRO THE GAY BLADE

Very funny movie about Zorro and his twin brother, Bunny Wigglesworth. Bunny uses a whip instead of a sword and dresses in colorful outfits.
George Hamilton is great in the title role.

Love this film

It's campy, irreverent and funny! George Hamilton is at his best as dual characters, twins who couldn't be more opposite. Brenda Vaccaro shines as a former love interest of Hamilton's character Diego. The only thing that irritated me was Rob Leibman's constant screaming as Alcalde, but he IS supposed to irritate. I absolutely love this film!!Lire l'avis complet...

One of my favorite movies of all time

This is one of my all-time favorite movies. I just wanted to have it in DVD because I don't have a VHS player any more, so ordered this one. George Hamilton is one funny guy, or two, since he plays both Zorro and his twin brother Ramon. Lauren Hutton is perfect for the part of Zorro's love interest, and Ron Leibman and Brenda Vaccaro almost steal the show. The writing is excellent. Some of my favorite parts involve Lauren Hutton's character's attempts to either understand or rid Zorro of his Spanish accent, which he claims not to have.Lire l'avis complet...

How Off the Wall? SOOOO!

Just about every cliche that you can think of gets exploited and exploded - from the straight Zorro having the old peon woman carrying his luggage while he babbles about caring for the downtrodden, to the gay guy Zorro going for the frilly costumes - so miserable that I roll on the floor laughing. Totally un-PC, so enjoy while you can!Lire l'avis complet...

Ok'd school gay. As in Fun

A classic that's still so funny it leaves me breathless. So many great lines, it's practically a sing-along. A stellar cast, each of whom knocked it out of the park with brilliant comic performances.

My favorite "Zorro" movie!

This movie is a comedy classic! Definite early 80s campiness and slapstick; listen carefully or you will miss the one-liners that are constantly being thrown about. For comparison, it feels like a Mel Brooks movie. No one is safe from ridicule and it is all the more entertaining because of this!Lire l'avis complet...

Good buy, Poorly packaged

I have seen this movie, but have not viewed this DVD yet. The disk looks fine, but the case was of pretty light plastic. When I opened the envelope a few pieces of plastic fell out. I discovered a lower corner of the DVD case had been crushed (by the delivery people I suspect). It was a good buy, but I wish it had been packaged better. Lire l'avis complet...
