I love it
I really like this novel, it is well written and I love the subject matter. The novel is set during WWII in North Africa and jumps from Eisenhower to Rommel to a US private tank gunner. I was a tank gunner myself so I've enjoyed hearing input from a gunner from an earlier era. The book is a cross of non-fiction and fiction and I'm blowing right through this book. This is book I of a trilogy, I've already purchased the other two novels and can't wait to get into book II of the series.Lire l'avis complet...

Steel Wave
Shaara has written a novel of the D Day invasion in Europe that humanizes the public figures (Eisenhauer, Churchill,Montgomery etc.) and the "ground pounders" who had to do the actual heavy lifting of facing the enemy. As in ALL of his earlier efforts, his research is thorough and his prose is impeccable! Shaara's latest effort "Nothing But Victory" completes his telling of the war in Europe with the breakout from the coast of France to the final German surrender in May 1945. The man is a national treasure. I recommend everything he has had published!!!Lire l'avis complet...
Jeff Shaara's writing
I had purchased another book by this author and really enjoyed it. At the end of that book was a short piece on the author's next book. Both the one I read and this one are both about WWII and I have quite an interest in that time and have been trying to read all I can. Haven't had a chance to read this book but if it's anything like the other I'm sure I'll enjoy it.Lire l'avis complet...
the steel wave
this book, like all the shaara books, was very well written. this top notch writer researched the material about the d-day landing and made a really good story of it hard to not read the book at one sitting. will be glad when the next one comes out anyone interested in books about past wars should give this one a try. shaara is probably the best there is when it come to telling war stories, mixing fact with fiction to give us just a little of what it was like to be there with all those real heroes of world war twoLire l'avis complet...

Excellent!
Mr Shaara as always weights a wonderful book. My father was at Omaha Beach and received a naval Commendation for his work on the Mulberry's. We both thought this book was excellent!
My Father died last December and had read The Steel Wave 3 times!Lire l'avis complet...
The Steel Wave
Another Shaara novel that reveals the thinking on both sides of the English Channel during the pre-Normandy and post-invasion periods. As always with Shaara, one finishes a book with a new appreciation for the nuances of characters and the fact that many time-honored beliefs are not supported by the evidence.Lire l'avis complet...
