The best work on the organisms of the Burgess shale!

Wonderful Life by Stephen Jay Gould is a classic. Written with panache and gentle humor, Gould makes what could be a dry and difficult topic acessable to readers who don't have the benefit of science degrees. Incredible illustrations, both photographs and line drawings show the extreme beauty of the organisms of the Burgess shale.
Published in the late 80's, the book is a little dated, a fact which Gould foresaw. He published articles correcting some of the mistakes, particularily the position of Hallucigenia.
I believe anyone should read this book. It's informative, interestingly written and bound to fire up the reader's imagination.Lire l'avis complet...

great Fossil book

This is an extremely well-done book about an extremely important topic.
Stephen Jay Gould is one of the very best reporters of Science in our generation
