HIGHLY IMPRESSED! Pure Fun!

The Good
Awesome sense of speed Gorgeous visuals Classic Wipeout fun Good selection of tracks.
The Bad
Track designs could've taken more risks Hard to miss hitting walls on turns.

WOW! I remember playing F-Zero on SNES. Great game then and now Wipeout Pure on PS. Similar games and both I like very much. Ok I'm not huge into racing games but I enjoy a bit of racing now & then. I picked this game cuz I was in the mood for some racing and I did my research on it. The graphics are well drawn and looks to be actually from the PS2. The Game play was wild I really get into it when I start playing. Possibly more interesting, though, is how the sound most of which the hum of the ships gives a great sense of the incredible futuristic power contained within, the robotic voice that announces the names of weapons as they're deployed. The SpaceShip Weapons are intense and a great advantage when in need of a winning position. Wipeout Pure is a joy to look at, and it's viscerally satisfying enough to please fans of the series and new players like myself. The visuals are simply impressive, both on an artistic and a technical level. Over-all I give Wipeout Pure 9.3

Good Game - Too Difficult

I bought it because it was one of the launch titles and it has sold so well that it must have been good. It does happen to be a very good game but I doubt many people will ever get to the end. I played for about 10 to 15 hours and I can't play any more. The graphics are amazing the handling of the vehicles and overall gameplay are done very well but it just gets too difficult. I'm no newbie to games, especially racing games so this isn't some 12 year old whining about how hard it is. After the first 2 or 3 classes that you beat in tournament mode, the A.I. gets almost perfect and it takes countless retries to improve at all. I simply can't play it any longer because it's become a pain in the butt and no matter how much I try, I just can't beat the computer players. One other thing that makes this game less than perfect: there is a multiplayer mode but it isn't online capable, meaning - the people you want to play with have to be in the room. You can't be bored and race against people worldwide, you have to know someone with the same game and make a play date. Otherwise, like I said, the game is amazing and the graphics are still top notch compared to recently released titles. Hope this helped.Lire l'avis complet...

Old but Cool

This game is designed way back but still its worth to be called an excellent rather a must game for a PSP. I have played the Wipeout Pulse demo before buying this and I must say Wipeout Pure has not let me down. Pulse has better graphics and slightly cleaner gameplay than Pure but Pure is as entertaining and as playable than any other top rated game in its genre on the console.

I love the speed, downloadable content, level of toughness, power ups.

There isn't much that I don't like about Pure, but if you play Wipeout Pulse before this, you may not appreciate the graphics.

Buy this game if you are into racing and smashing.

Wipeout!!!! Pure Fun!!!

Was looking for a good racing game, not just on wheels. This was the highest-rated wipeout game for PSP and one of the highest rated PSP games ever. If you've played any of the other wipeout games or all the way back to the FX-Zero for N64, this is a great pickup for the PSP! Graphics are very nice and colorful for the PSP and has great presentation. Does take a bit getting used to the controls but the levels and speed increase the more you play, making it much more involving. Having "Mario Kart" type pick-ups and weapons makes it that much more challenging. If you like any games with nice, eye-catching graphics and fast, challenging style of play (i.e. Burnout Legends, SSX tricky, etc.), dont hesitate to pick this up!Lire l'avis complet...

Wipeout Pure is Excellent

If you've ever played a Wipeout game before you know what to expect, insanely fast futuristic racing !! If you haven't well... Wipeout Pure is a racing game with futuristic armed hover craft. When you start off you may think the speed is very slow. Well thats just so you can get used to it before moving on to the faster leagues. The Graphics in Wipeout Pure look great with a solid framerate, nice effects like sparks when you scrape against the side of the track/other racers and colorful effects for the environments and weapons/explosions and compared to other racing games on the PSP, they are at the top of the list. The color palet used is vibrant and clean. The enviroments and track design is well done and the Techno sound track fits the game perfectly. There is also online multiplayer and alot of free downloads for more tracks and vehicals. Overall Wipeout Pure is one of the best racers for the system and everyone with a PSP should own it.Lire l'avis complet...

WipeOut Pure (PSP)

I was never really into the PSP, due to it's high cost and the plethora of racing and otherwise boring games that were plaguing the market at the time of release. But now that I can get second-hand copies of games, I can finally start appreciating them (a little). Wipeout Pure for the Sony PSP continues the tradition of the WipeOut series that began in 1995 with the release of the first wipeout game for the Sony Playstation, Sega Saturn, and PC. I found the graphics were as with most PSP games, amazing. Not flawless, but much better than you'd find in any other portable system around. I found that the steering lacked a little control, but just needed some getting used to. There were not that many tracks, only 8 to be precise without unlocking secret ones, which was a bit dissapointing. But the music is where this game really stands out. Great tracks and beats all around. If you're into racing games on the PSP, this is definitely the first one i would check out, but there are definitely better ones out there on other systems.

Excellent PSP Game

In passing years, WipEout was expanded with four sequels of varying quality on three different consoles; while the series' popularity peaked just following the release of the first PSX sequel Wipeout XL, it has become less and less relevant in recent years thanks in part to a mediocre showing on the Playstation 2. As such, it's rather astonishing that the series has returned to help launch a new Playstation console; what's more surprising though, is just how great it is.

Developer Studio Liverpool, the team responsible for the PS2's Wipeout Fusion, has undoubtedly learned from its mistakes and returned the series to its former glory in Wipeout Pure. As the title implies, many of the gameplay systems that were modified or added to Fusion to poor effect have been dismissed while many of the series' former ideals have returned. With the bone set back into place, Studio Liverpool was free to build upon those old concepts to create what is very likely the most polished futuristic racer to ever hit the market.

While Pure is a return to form in many different ways, none is so obvious as the way vehicles handle. Fusion's courses tended to be very wide and thus the vehicles were much more prone to making harsher turns. This was a bother for old players who had to essentially relearn to play, and for fresh pilots who simply found the learning curve too difficult. Thankfully, the vehicles in Fusion handle similarly to those in earlier games. It's much easier to keep the nose of the ship pointed forward, for example, and air-brake-assisted drifting becomes second-nature after little practice.

Pure Speed. Pure Intensity. Pure Wipeout.
In the year 2197, only two things matter- Victory and Survival. Pilot the most advanced race craft ever built and battle for complete domination of the FX300 Racing League. The original Anti-Gravity Racer returns with signature Wipeout anti-gravity physics, a high-energy soundtrack, and all new features that only the PSP® can provide!Lire l'avis complet...

This Game Truely Maximizes the PSP.

Great Game.
The graphics are very vibrant and colorful.

Great Replay Value.

Great to Link up with A Friend.

Boost past them with a speed boost, maybe blast them with a lock on missle, or auto drive through the hard turns.

I played the demo first and reminded me of how much fun I had playing F-Zero, so I bought it.

It definately is a good game to break the boredom of First Person Shooter games, and would recommend it to anyone.

As of now, the only Psp game worth going back 2.

When I originally wrote my review of the Psp it was when this was the only game I was playing on it. Well as time has gone by I would have definately given the Psp a lower rating than I did because there just arean't many games that are very good for it. But, Wipeout for the psp is amazing. I find myself going back to this game constantly. In my opinion it is the only game that is really great on the Psp. Yes I know there is the grand theft auto games and a couple others, but for a handheld system these type of games are hard to get into. Wipeout is a game you can throw in your Psp and play for 15 minutes and significantly satisfy your gaming needs. Rpgs and games like GTA are ones that require more time to really get into. If your thinking wipeout is just like any other racing game your completely wrong. I don't get into racing games, Wipeout is unique in its own way. The hover craft type vehicles you control are very fun to do so as opposed to most car racing games controlling virtually the same. The graphics are outstanding with futuristic levels ranging from tunnels under water, through rain or snow, or up in the sky line. What really makes this game is the music though, the techno that is played throughout the game makes it really fun and you find your self thinking this game is really FRIKIN SWEET.Lire l'avis complet...
