3.5 stars: Downing's "transition" album in hindsight.
Would've rated this one even higher if two tracks were thoroughly deleted from the original running order: I'll Wait (repeated on Downing's 1991 breakthrough follow-up release 'A Dream Fulfilled' to better effect) and Rules Of Love (New Jack R&B-flavored filler that doesn't quite fit Will's refined "grown folk" aesthetic here). Also wouldn't have hurt if one specific track was added in place of those two, which would be none other than the cover duet Will did with fellow Island labelmate Mica Paris (Where Is The Love, featured on Mica's 'So Good' debut that was released just a few months later). With that said, still recommend this fairly decent sophomore effort to longtime fans though for newcomers I would hold off until checking out Will's more essential releases like that aforementioned 3rd album for example.Lire l'avis complet...
