Surprised!

My 2 yo son will choose this book from his shelf a couple times a week for one of his nightly tales. He absolutely loves it. The pictures are so intriguing yet the script is so simple that he enjoys it so much. Isn’t there a movie out for it too? I’ll have to look into it. Where the Wild Things Are - Imagination & Inclusion

Maurice Sendak's Where the Wild Things Are is a wonderfully presented story for children. The tale focuses on an apparently rowdy youth, Max, who is sent to bed without supper for his rambunctious escapades in the house. Later that night Max dreams of a magical rowdy world where he is king of all things wild and terrible, but eventually Max comes to realize that having everything always go your way lacks any real fulfillment. The incorporation of some values into a beautifully illustrated adventure is sure to entertain any small child while still effectively presenting a subtle message. Wild things

I remember reading this book as a child. Until the book fell apart it was read so many times. I will enjoy reading to my nieces and nephews in the years to come.

Short on text, long on imagination

While there is not a lot of text in this book, it is more than made up for with a lot of imagination. Max is a boy wearing a wolf suit and that evening he has been particularly difficult. So bad that he is sent to bed without his supper. His reaction is to “leave” his bed and travel over the ocean to a place where there are many wild creatures.
They have horns, sharp claws and fierce expressions. Yet, they enjoy playing so they join Max in howling at the moon, hanging from trees and generally doing playful monster things. However, despite the fun they have with monsters, little boys enjoy being with other people. Therefore, when Max smells something good, he says goodbye to his monster friends, and sails back to his home. When he arrives, he discovers his supper in his room. Furthermore, despite the extent of his adventures, it is still hot.
The charm of this book is the dilemma that a naughty, yet imaginative child has to cope with. For no matter where he can go in the virtual sense, there is no place like home with a hot meal.Lire l'avis complet...

maurice sendak's where the wild things are .. is the best... the absolute best kid story...max and his wolf suit.... all the way back to his own room... where his supper was still hot...

ive bought and gave away soooo many of these books over the years..
