Complete trash.

I bought one of these a month ago and within the first week it fails to read in the usb port. I also bought a 1TB my book from Western Digital a while back and it broke within the first month. I will never spend another dime on another product of theirs, everyone I know that has had anything WD has broke for no reason within a month or later. You are better off paying an extra 10 dollars for a product that has an ounce of integrity. Even they're tech support is cheap, they hire 15 yo's in the Philippines being paid in peanuts. It's ridiculous, they keep you on the phone for a full hour and transfer you back and fourth every time you have a question. The majority of the time your waiting on hold, and they're level of comprehension is about 1 out of a 100. I would expect a step by step process from someone that will solve any trouble I was having. You can spend hours at a time reading forums for each individual problem you have and the majority of the time their is no easy fix. My time is valuable to me so their is no point in owning one of these even if you gave one to me. Hard-wired software is a terrrible idea.

This product has hard-wired software that can't be deleted. It installs itself as a CD-Rom on your hard drive with its own hard drive letter. This can't be deleted. The software that it installs for itself can't be deleted either, but you can disable the drive in Device Manager. Western Digital must be idiots! They need to make these drives where you can choose to install their software or not. They force their software on you. The drive may be great, but being forced to use their software is worthless. Mine is going back up for sale, and I won't be purchasing any more of these. Stay away from any portable drive that won't let you choose whether or not to install their software. Good price, great product, and the only hard drive I'd use!

WESTERN DIGITAL 500 gb Drive

What i like about this drive is that it is Small, and it only uses the usb power cable to power and connecct with this unit. The software to cntrol the USB drive can be found on the unit or drirectly from The MFG web site.

This is actually a very good product! Great price! Very fast and efficient as well! I love it, and I will recommend it to anybody else looking for a cheap, efficient external hard drive solution.
