Western Digital HD's are great! *(especially if you can find a great deal)

Easy to hook up, easy to use, and quite reliable, so far. My first externals (I rec'd a 500GB & a 750GB this purchase, although 2x500gb's were listed for sale), and I am pleased as punch. The performance booster is a great bonus I didn't know about, and I think that the speed of both units are good. The booster is not usable on all comps/laptops, as they must be stronger to support the boost, but I love it on my better laptop (booster doesn't work for my Toshiba C655...athlon vision amd may be why). The drivers downloaded fast and easy. There are users manuals and instructions online, so all my questions were easy to find answers to (and I didn't have many). These are not listed as portable, but I'd mention to you that they certainly fit into my Adidas Laptop bag, and there is a power and usb cord. Size of a bible (little thicker). Pretty good product. Was exactly how it seemed.

Bad experience

A total disaster (almost). The vendor used a 10 year old snail msil address somehow. Had to fight to get my money back.
