Will buy again soon. If price is right.

Works great in a pc. Still trying to read or write to it on a USB connected HDD doc (wn 11 laptop) any info would help. Drive is fast and runs cool.

Used to Replace Tivo Hard Drive

Replaced the hard drive in my Tivo Roamio which had blinkng lights. Also, replaced the power supply. The hard drive came sealed in a plastic sleeve and packed in bubble wrap. Hooked it all up and it worked straight away.Lire l'avis complet...

Great drive Today

Great storage with good access time. Bad blocks were limited down to .00002%. It's a good drive with pretty reasonable storage capability in this day and age.

High capacity. Low price

I bought this drive to consolidate media from two 320GB and one 500GB hard drive (all of which were bursting at the seams in space) onto a single medium, while preparing for future additions to my digital media collection.

If this is your reason for buying this drive, do not let the 5400RPM scare you. It took mine 4 days to format (it is a HUGE drive, 2.72TB after formatting), and quite a while to copy all of my media over, but now that the media is there, it is easy to maintain and easy to use. You will need to convert the format to GPT instead of MBR (Which is limited to 2.2TB) in order to format as a single drive. It is not recommended as an operating system drive (as explained on reviews elsewhere for this drive). But I am trusting all of my media to it. After all, the lower speed means less wear and tear on the hardware and could add to the drive's longevity. If you are looking for a place to store a large volume of media, while looking for a capacity that will not be considered obsolete in the near future, then this drive is for you.

Didn't Work right out of the box.

Did not work out of the box. The computer kept saying it failed to format when trying to format in the Windows Drive Manager.

High capacity, reliable drive that doesn't use alot of power.

The Western Digital Green series drives offer a great value. They are not the fastest drives, but they are not intended to be. They are not intended to be boot drives, and if use one for a boot drive you have done the drive and yourself a disservice.

They are intended to be high capacity drives that are reliable and conserve power. They do this very well.

high performance gargantuan data warehouse storage WD3TB is a YES

this drive performs well and very fast.
a few issues installing so this may help.
I would not recommend as an operating system only drive,
better put an operating system on a smaller drive and use this as storage facilty.
Three NTFS Partitions 1GB,1GB and 860MB respectively using ubuntu and upgraded from windows xp (has 2TB limitations) to windows 7 ultimate and all is well.
I share wirelessly throughout the home and this setup is very fast.

Good commodity purchase. Oceans of space.

I bought two drives that are working just fine. I can't give top scores on the performance and value because there were cheaper 3TB drives nearly 2 years ago before the floods in Thailand messed up the marketplace and a 5400 RPM drive will always be a middling performer although slower RPMs also means less noise and lower energy consumption. I'm down a bit on WD since they disowned a warranty claim recently on what I viewed as a technicality.Lire l'avis complet...
