Wacom CINTIQ

Wacom offers two options for working directly on screen: the large-format, second-generation Cintiq 21UX, and the low-profile Cintiq 12WX. These high-quality displays, combined with the Cintiq pressure- and tilt-sensitive Grip Pens, offer world-class levels of precision, control and comfort for editing digital images, applying effects and filters, sketching, painting and modeling. The amazingly responsive, pen-on-screen performance closely replicates the experience of working with traditional brushes and markers, but offers all the benefits of a digital workflow.

The Cintiq's scratch-resistant glass surface is completely flat edge-to-edge, allowing the hand to glide easily over the entire surface. Both Cintiqs offer adjustments that allow them to be set up in different working positions and at different viewing angles. They also come equipped with finger-sensitive Touch Strips and ExpressKeys™ that can be customized with commonly-used shortcuts and modifiers to speed and simplify any workflow.

The Cintiq pen controls the cursor in any application and provides pressure- and tilt-sensitive effects in supporting applications such as Adobe® Photoshop®, Autodesk® SketchBook® Pro, Corel® Painter™ and hundreds of other applications. Cintiqs are compatible with both Mac and PC platforms.

Fantastic tablet with good qualities, makes sketching digitally great A+++

Fantastic graphics tablet.

This tablet is great for those who want to do their artwork or projects digitally. I use this tablet to do renderings for concept designs such as cars, boats and planes. I find the tablet easy to use and the display at 12" is the right size for sketching and painting digitally. The pen feels great to hold in your hand it doesn't feel any different than a paint brush or pencil. Everything that is needed to connect to your computer/laptop or even dual monitors is included. However the only negative crit I can say is the amount of cables that you end up having lying on the floor around your work space. My studio workspace has printers, scanners and computer monitors so there are a lot of cables lying around already. But this is just a minor issue.
The tablet features I like most are the buttons that you can use as hotkeys for your apps. I use Sketckbook Pro, Photoshop CS4, Illustrator CS4 even Mudbox 2010 and I can assign my own hotkey shortcuts for each of these apps. I have seen improvements already with my workload increasing and time spent doing design sketches has decreased because of the Cintiq 12wx.
Compared to the Cintiq 21ux, which I have used it has a larger display at 21" the Cintiq 12wx is more portable, lighter and is just as effective as the Cintiq 21ux in performance.

Lightweight, Good Size, and Great features

I still have an intuos pen from undergrad (it's basically brand new because I used it for one year then kept it in it's case the last 5 or 6 years), but had no tablet to use for it. I'm in grad school now at the same school that had the Wacom lab. Unfortunately for me, they updated the lab to use the newer Wacom computers, which meant my pen doesn't work on them anymore. I wished I could have bought one of the old Wacom's from them, but they switched the summer before I started school. I looked around online to figure out what types of tablets I can use my pen on, and this was one of the models, and the most affordable model for me. I am very pleased with it and it works exactly as expected, and as smoothly as I remembered. Knowing that this is an old model now, I can't even imagine how top-notch the newer models must be. I know this tablet will get me by for a few years, though, and I am very happy with it. I got by for many years doing graphic design without needing this pen because most of my work was in Illustrator and InDesign, and only small manipulations in Photoshop. Now I'm doing concept art completely in Photoshop, so a mouse wasn't cutting it anymore. The only thing I haven't figured out yet, is how to program the buttons to do what I want them to in Photoshop. I've programmed them for general usage, but not for what they do in Photoshop.

My only complaint: There are SO. MANY. CORDS. The tablet has a thick cord to plug into an outlet for power, then a cord to plug from the tablet to a converter box, then another cord to go from the converter box to your computer. This does not work without the converter box. And, unfortunately for me, I am going to have to buy a 4th cord to convert the video cord into an HDMI so that I can hook it up to my new laptop. I have been using this connected to a 2012 version of a Lenovo Idea Pad. I cannot connect it to my Lenovo Flex 4 yet.

An overall GREAT EXPERIENCE!!!!

It lives up to what I read at least. I really enjoy this product!!! I've been drawing with it for awhile now and have had no problems except that every once and awhile the edges don't respond to well... That only becomes annoying when your trying to exit out of a program and the wacom is telling you to move the item down which you can't do because it won't respond... I have a nice set up with both my pen and mouse because I draw with my left and click objects with my right so that lack of response doesn't become to much of a hassle.

Other than that it's a great buy. The programs you use really counts on the experience you get of the wacom. I feel like I'm drawing on paper, just not with the hesitation of messing up, and when I first began found myself trying to wipe away none existing eraser shavings.

Its exceedingly light, so moving it around and placing it on your lap isn't a problem. The cords kinda get in the way, but that's always to be expected. The stand works as it should too. The original pen it comes with is rather good if not slightly bulky, however it's very easy to get use to. My problem was the instruction manuel... I'm very computer/technology illiterate so when reading over the steps to connect the wacom I found myself saying "what the heck is that???" It didn't have very many images to help out... I didn't even know computers had different cords and video chips... I'm still trying to figure out how to program the side buttons... All it really said was (shift)button, and that didn't even work...

Still besides the few lack of details and somewhat response me and the wacom get along great, and I'm making artwork with that on the paper feel. I definitely recommend this product to any artist.

It’s old

Product is old and requires older connection. Also if your pens is not functional it’s almost impossible to replace, and if you do find a replacement be ready to pay a lot of money. At the end of the day it’s not worth it. Skip this version and buy something newer if you need this type of tool.Lire l'avis complet...

Nice quality, does what it does well, although not as portable as I thought

Works well, although the screen is a little small. But it is portable.
Not quite as comfy as my 21 inch at the office, but it serves the purpose.
The only issue I have with the Cintiq is the mass of cables necessary to
hook it up. That reduces the portability somewhat.
Would be nice if the thunderbolt port could incorporate input control along with
the video on the one cable.
Overall, I would recommend the Cintiq, although the cabling does limit the portability
somewhat.

Great product

Really enjoy using this model it has the ability to be used by both right an left handed people. If you have never used a wacom pen display and do art work on ur computer it's worth the investment. I don't know how I've gone this long without one.Lire l'avis complet...

Perfect for artists who need a small Cintiq, or travel frequently!

This is a great tool for students and artists who aren't looking to spend a grand on a Cintiq. I've worked with both a 21UX, and now own this 12WX, and can say that aside from the size, they are quite similar in their feel. At work, I have a 21UX and a nice work station and desk, with a high-speed Mac Pro and the entire Creative Suite. Of course, at home, I don't have a set-up that is quite so grand... I don't even have a desk. This Cintiq is small and light enough to be easily held in my lap, or set up on my coffee table to do my work. My only complaint (and I don't know if I'd call it a complaint, really, more like a nit-picking observation) is that there are a lot of chords. The Cintiq itself only has one chord coming out of it, and it plugs in to a small box that ultimately has three more chords coming out of it, two that plug into my computer and one that plugs into the wall. This makes it a little messy to set up and break down every time I use it (since I don't have a desk), but it's not big deal really. I imagine if I had a permanent work station this wouldn't be an issue at all!

Great product!

Amazingly Easy

I have made drawings and illustrations for years by hand, but now am doing them digitally. It is amazingly easy with the Cintiq by Wacom.

Oh yeah.

An excellent piece of equipment. I do a lot of digital work, and it suits my needs perfectly. My only dislikes are the screen brightness and pen jitter at the screen edges.

If you lower your brightness on your other monitors and calibrate the Cintiq, you can get the colors very close. Out of the box, though, the colors will be off.

...and the pen jitter is a manufacturer "feature" that comes with every Cintiq, from what I've read. Doesn't hinder drawing ability for me. :)

All in all, I would buy again.
