Best of the Best

It's almost saddening to see how electric the atmosphere was, how alive the fans were, how great the competitors were, and how brave and logical the booking was. Especially compared to the sad, confusing, cowardly product currently being produced by the WWE.
This was the Mania to end all Manias-Wrestlemania x-seven.
On April Fools Day of 2001, at the Astrodome in Houston, Texas, fans present and watching on pay per view around the world, were lucky enough to witness one of the greatest cards in wrestling history, and almost certainly the best in the long, distinguished history of the WWF. Not that it was perfect.
There was the occasional time-waster; an overlong bout for the Womens title placing champion Ivory vs Chyna; but everything else was dynamite.
Headlined by the incomparable WWF champion The Rock defending against arguably the most beloved wrestler in the history of the WWF, Stone Cold Steve Austin, this was possibly the most anticipated Wrestlemania in the 17 year history of the big show. This was the pinnacle of the 'Attitude Era', a period in which the company received loads of criticism over the violent and sexually explicit material. But for real fans, adult fans, this was the single most creative time in the company EVER. Even though the entire repetoire was lifted from the far more creative and ingenious ECW, thanks to the incredible budget provided by Vince McMahon, all the decadence never looked better.
So see it for the Attitude; or for Rock vs Austin; see it for the entertaining gimmick battle royal; especially see it for the PWI match of the year: The Dudleys vs The Hardys vs Edge and Christian in a ladder match for the tag belts. There's also the bloody grudge match between Vince McMahon and his son Shane; and the awesome bout between 2 of the greatest of all time, Kurt Angle vs Chris Benoit. But just see it.

WrestleMania X-Seven

WrestleMania X-Seven, one of the most memorable WrestleManias of all time, features a showdown between two of the most entertaining wrestlers ever to grace the WWF (now WWE). "The Rock" and "Stone Cold" Steve Austin go toe to toe in a no-disqualification match with a surprising twist end! This now rare DVD is a pleasant trip to the past for any nostalgic wrestling fan, and features plenty of content to keep you coming back for more.Lire l'avis complet...

One of the Best WrestleManias Ever!!!

Contains lots of interesting matches. The Rock v.s Stone Cold, The big show vs Kane vs Raven Hardcore championship match, TLC for the tag team title, The Gimmick Battle Royal with special guest announcers: Mean Gene Okerlund and Bobby "the brain" Hennan, Chyna vs Ivory for the woman's championship, Vince vs. Shane in a street fight, and Undertaker vs Triple H to name a few. The DVD extras are also great. They feature grudge histories and interviews. This DVD is highly recommendedLire l'avis complet...

WM17 dvd

DVD works like a charm. The inner DVD disc flap is a little loose, but the DVD is in excellent condition. I'm very glad to have this Wrestlemania DVD in all it's non-revised glory.

This DVD is very valuable in that it was released in 2001. The World Wrestling Federation (WWF), now known as World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), lost a pivotal lawsuit to the World Wildlife Fund and were ordered by court to stop using the old WWF Attitude logo on any of its properties and to censor all past references to WWF, including footage.

Nowadays, this same DVD is re-released with all the WWF logos censored and any licensed music replaced with generic production music. In other words, a very watered-down version that feels butchered.

I'm very very lucky to have a DVD copy of the best WrestleMania in WWE history, in all it's original pre-WWE glory!

The Granddaddy of Them All

Wrestlemania 17 is the greatest Wrestlemania of all time. To me, this event is the pinnacle of the Attitude Era. Stone Cold vs. The Rock was the main event, but the rest of the card was fantastic as well. There is the T.L.C. match that blew the roof off of the Astrodome. Also, Vince McMahon vs. Shane McMahon in an epic street fight. Of course, there is the Undertaker taking on Triple H, the Gimmick Battle Royal and a classic match between Angle and Benoit. From start to finish, this Wrestlemania will keep you interested, entertained and proud to be a WWE fan. The theme song alone, combined with the video package of the Stone Cold vs. Rock match, is enough to give you chills. Many consider this the end of the Attitude Era and what a way to go out on top.Lire l'avis complet...

Glad I made this purchase

A fantastic show! There was some skipping moments on the first disc (Eddie VS Test and the whole Vince VS Shane match) but otherwise, no complaints

Wrestlemania......what more is there to say

As always, Wrestlemania is great, this is a 2-disc original print dvd, unedited after the World Wrestling Federation vs World Wildlife Foundation fiasco, so there are no blurred portions of the picture. This is the third Wrestlemania to be released on dvd following Wrestlemania XV and then Wrestlemania 2000(XVI). Being released in 2001 it is also one of the first 10 Pay-per-views released on dvd, making it quiet rare for the avid collector.Lire l'avis complet...
