Handy useful tool
Is for home hobbyist and should be quite adequate for light use and modeling and home use.
The above questions are inappropriate for this item as it is not intended to be hand held (and thus has no handles) or powerful or balanced. It is intended to be bench mounted and provide a means of delicate machining, sanding, smoothing and shaping. That is the use for which I will be using it. Best power tool I ever bought
I needed this tool and thought I was getting a mediocre device. How wrong I was! I could have spent less on a cheaper brand and gotten cheaper results. However, I am sure this will last for years. I bought extra belts and discs ahead of time and grateful for it. But I'm still using the ones already installed. This machine runs relatively quiet compared to other power tools. Underwelmed
Needed a 1" belt sander for several small projects. Was undecided between a cheap $60-70 sander from several sources, and the more expensive blue one for about double the money. Decided on the Wen for about $90. I guess underwhelmed would be my assessment of this machine. I ran it for about 20 minutes unloaded as a break-in, the motor got quite warm, and now there is an electrical smell when it runs. Still runs OK though, for now. I removed the 3 small belt guard screws, and replaced them with some round thumb screws to make it quicker to replace belts.
Pros and cons:
Cons: - First of all, much is plastic. The belt guard, tracking/tension assembly, adjustment knobs, etc.
- The tool rest plates are very poorly machined aluminum.
- Not a ton of power. It can be bogged down sanding wood.
- 3 small screws and a knob need to be removed or loosened on every belt change.
- To remove the round tool rest, the entire clamping assembly needs to be dismantled.
Pros: - The base seems to be some sort of metal, don't know what. A magnet will not stick to it.
- A magnet will stick to the motor housing. The motor is fairly quiet.
- It tracks nicely. The tracking adjustment works, and the belt runs true.
Overall, for what it is, you might as well save $20 or so and get one of the cheaper priced sanders that are essentially the same thing.

I'm a Facilities Mgr. for 6 Little Caesars Pizza stores in Marietta, Ga. Our staff loves to abuse our stainless steel cutters, bang em, drop em, wash em, throw em at each other, they don't care. We spent hours trying to sharpen them, & the cutters now at least the cutters are sharp & alot less time. Had this a week & I put it wherever it'll fit (it's probably laying on it's side) in my truck to all the stores, I don't have room for something that doesn't work or needs constant attention, like our employees!Lire l'avis complet...

Excellent time saving tool
I had a woodworking project that required lots of tedious sanding of small outside curved surfaces. This tool did a great job. It saved me lots of time, and it's fun to use. Very professional results!
I have power tools that are much more expensive, but none that were a better investment!

Good Machine for the Price
I bought this for helping shape materials for RC airplanes. It's good. The tables are generally stable and hold the pieces steady against the belts. The belts that come with the machine are very coarse so I switched them out immediately for my needs. The disk sanding pad is pressure sensitive adhesive. It was a challenge to get the old pad off. Other reviewers said to use a hair dryer to warm it up first. I tried that and it helped but it is still a bit of a challenge. Good product, but....
This is an extremely useful tool. The only negative I have is the fact that three screws and a knob have to be removed to gain access to the belt. When polishing or sharpening an item more than one belt (different grits] is usually required and things would be easier if this screw removal wasn't required.Lire l'avis complet...

Sander
Very compact light. I use it for trimming mini licence vanity plates for pedal and push car's The price was right.. I would recommend it for light weight jobs wood trim modeling etc.

This was a good investment!
This sander is a beast! Solid base that keeps it from tipping over. The belt takes off material like a hot knife goes through butter, wow. This was a good investment.

"Very good belt and disc sander"
This belt and disc sander is well made with good features. I've used it for
the last 2 months with very good results on anything including wood, metal
and ect. Very good sander! Would buy again!
