Better than the TV show but

it's disappointing because there is 'WAY too much profanity. I'm no prude.. I'm used to swearing in movies and even on TV, but I hate reading so much of it in books. Some is tolerable, but this book has too much, and it really takes away from the story. I'd probably rate it higher if not for that because it is a lot better than the TV show.
There are many surprises that weren't in the show, and many things in the show that were changed quite a bit, so it's worth the read. But all the swearing makes Mr. King seem uneducated, which I know is not the case. He's a very good writer who doesn't need to fall back on profanity to tell his stories.

UPDATE: Finished the book and changed my review to one star. I DO NOT recommend this book. it is the WORST Stephen King book I've ever read, and I've read nearly all of his books. I don't know where his head was when he wrote this dreck. Just awful and SO disappointing.Lire l'avis complet...

The Simpsons Movie by Stephen King?!

That's what I thought in the beginning but King does have his own plot and twists which are different than the last The Simpson's movie on the destruction of the environment.
Here the plot is focused on the destruction of American society due to prejudice, greed and other vices which we see on the front pages of our newspapers and TV news every night.
Kinda a long read, I wouldn't want to read this again and if you have a shorter King novel that you wnated to read in the past, go for that one and watch the Simpson's movie instead, it's much more entertaining!Lire l'avis complet...

Stephen King is a master of the written word

At 1038 pages this book at first appears daunting at best. The average reader will probably have a difficult time even thinking about picking this book up and that would be a mistake.

Not since The Stand has the master story teller, Stephen King put together a plot twisted, character laden book that is not only difficult to put down, but so easy to follow.

The book takes place in Chester's Mill, a small town in Maine that is one day put 'Under the Dome' but the true story is the people, and there are a lot of them, so many that King put a list of the cast of characters in the book to help the reader keep track of who everyone is.

The book is full of suspense and full of character twists. You get caught up in the lives of each and every character.

Any true King fan will love this book and if you have never read a Stephen King book this is a great one to start with.

Get this book at any price, it is well worth the money and the time involved in reading it.Lire l'avis complet...

Very good, Intriging, Suspenseful!

This book was recommended by a friend and then the ads for the TV series started and although I am not usually a King fan my interest was piqued. I really enjoyed this book. My curiousity was up from the very beginning. A lot of excitement and drama. I am not sure that I liked the way the book ended but I am sure that a lot of people will. I honestly enjoyed reading it. It is long and it is a very heavy book which makes reading while laying down difficult. I "got in to it" from the beginning, unlike Bag of Bones which I couldn't "get into" but I did like the movie. Really good book and a great value!

Stephen King is my favorite author and this book was a great purchase...price and ease of buying.
I am currently enjoying this book, great reading and is as good or better than some of his books.
