These manuals are perfect for almost everyone, from people who like to tinker on their cars to the seasoned profesionals who do this stuff for a living. I purchased this Chilton's manual because the starter on my wifes Toyota was starting to go out. I opened the hood, didnt like what I saw so I took it to a mechanic. I didnt like the price the mechanic quoted me to replace the starter so I purchased this chilton manual for Toyotas to see if I could do the repairs myself. I could, I can, I did. This book took all the mystery out of replacing the starter and was able to finish the job in no time under a whole lot less then the mechanic wanted. The repairs are step by step to make life easier with a bunch of pictures to boot. These Chilton manuals explain everything from replacing a light bulb to rebuilding an engine so one must only do repairs one is comfortable with. I can see an individual start a engine overhaul per the Chilton manual only to realise that he is in way over his head whith the engine out and disassembled in several pieces on the garage floor. These manuals are nice to have even if you dont plan on doing your own repairs at all. There is a general information section in the front of the manual that show you what to look for as per wear and tear on your vehicle. If you plan on keeping your car for a few years longer, this is a must have. That way, if you dont want to do the work youself and have to take it to a auto repair shop,you can narrow done the repairs needed and hopefuly wont get screwed by a mechanic who is less then honest by you knowing a little something about what you are talking about.If you happpen to have a friend who knows something about working on cars, then this manual will be his best tool when working on your car. So in closing, I say, buy thses Chilton manuals, do your auto repairs in confidence and save some money. Thank you.

These manuals are great. The manual helps you become a do it yourselfer. It has detialed instructions to help you repair your car on your own. This can really help you save $.

chilton 1983 to 1996 repair manual

The book is lacking the details that the Haynes or factory repair manual has. I have both and think the Haynes or if you really want details get the factory repair manual more money but if you want details get the factory manual. This chilton is good for tune ups and basic repair.
