Frank Sinatra at his Best !!

Have always been a big Frank Sinatra fan with both his acting and music !! Both of his Tony Rome releases were great ! This is the 1st released in 1967 with the setting down in Miami Florida. Tony Rome is hired by an old friend to take a young lady back to her home after a night of heavy drinking and checking into a hotel. Unfortunately the woman is a daughter of a very rich and influential developer played by the late Simon Oakland. Once it is discovered that the daughters diamond pendent was stolen it leads Tony Rome into a world of lies, deception and even murder ! Frank is great adding his own humor while trying to solve the case. Richard Conte is excellent as the chief detective. The picture & sound quality is not bad for a DVD. Great if you can get it for the right price!

The Chairman's first "Tony Rome" film actually has a very good and complicated plot, and a strong cast, highlighted by Jill Saint-John in some very nice wardrobe! Sinatra did not like a lot of takes in making a film, and he has a hard time slowing down his pace in some of the scenes that require it. You wind up asking yourself if another actor would be better in the part. Sometimes yes, but most of the time, no. The Miami locations of the film are great to view 40 years later! In the end, the production seems as much TV-movie as big-budget picture, but if you can pick it up for a song on e-Bay, it should make for an enjoyable viewing.Lire l'avis complet...

Miami Beach Hardboiled

I had never seen this movie without commercial breaks, and it wasn't one of those fuzzy copied off the TV DVDs. Crisp and beautiful. Tony Rome is a former cop turned Private detective who lives on a boat harbored in Miami Beach Marina. It was worth it just to see Miami Beach in the 60s. Great Frank Sinatra Film!!

Very enjoyable and entertaining Frank Sinatra movie. Wish he had done more of the them as a series. Because his "home" in the movie is a boat and because he is portrayed as a tired, kind of down and out ex cop - I strongly feel the wonderful short lived series "Harry O" with the late great David Janssen was created, in part, from this film. A fascinating detective film with Sinatra

Sinatra does a great job playing a private detective in Miami of the 1960s. Great music, intriguing and well-developed characters, and intricate plotting. Highly recommended!
