Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 (Wii, 2007)

We keep waiting for the fairy dust and pixies -- that strange, unexplainable magic that transforms the extraordinary into perfection -- to work its stuff on the Wii remote. The controller has flexed its muscles in games like Wii Sports and we've been wowed again and again by its speedy accuracy in, say, first-person shooters. Nowadays, we look at many traditionally-controlled games and fantasize about how much better they might play with Nintendo's remote. But just as the pointer has showcased its strengths, so have its weaknesses become illuminated. Take, for example, a project like Wii Sports golf, whose simple presentation is complemented by equally simple controls -- a configuration, we submit, that could only succeed on Nintendo's new console. That is because the play mechanics which power this rendition of golf are so basic as to be ignored if not for an astonishingly refreshing control method -- so pick-up-and-play accessible that you can grip it and rip it, as they say, alongside mom, dad, and maybe even grandma, too. Intuitive or not, though, Wii Sports golf lacked depth -- you couldn't add spin or hook to your shots, for example -- and therefore die-hard simulation seekers looked to EA's Tiger Woods franchise for the real deal. Now, the simulation-heavy golfer is here and with it a deeper golfing experience than previously available -- no doubt about it. That noted, EA hasn't stumbled into the fairy dust and the pixies are still nowhere to be found. The developer has made clever use of the Wii remote and in some ways it does indeed feel like an extension of a real-life golf club. And yet, some old issues persist, from lacking one-to-one maneuverability -- Wii Sports has it beat, believe it or not -- to some truly arbitrary control inaccuracies, which keep us from declaring this the ultimate videogame golfer.Lire l'avis complet...

Tiger Woods PGA Tour '07 on the Wii

As I'm sure you've already seen on the other reviews, the graphics aren't the best but aren't really what i would call bad, more than anything being the Wii's lack of HD vs. everyone being usd to HD everything by now. The innovative Wii Trueswing feature is really what sets this installment of the T.W. franchise apart from the others. (and, btw, makes it TOTALLY worth the selling price of $30 new @ gamestop)
Also, as stated in some of the other reviews, during your first few games the swing will OCCASIONALLY (only a few times) start before you start your foward swing, but after you get the hang of it, it pretty well stops being fussy altogether. Putting can be a little difficult, but if you've ever played real golf, then you know it's not much different than a real-life game... plus, if it were easy, it wouldn't be any fun and people would complain about it not being challenging enough.
To sum up, worth the money, lots of fun with other people, and the minor bugs i'm sure will be worked out in 08. (i have faith in EA)

thanks for hearing my two meager cents. enjoy your game.

Decent Game, But I Would Wait For Woods 08

I have owned and played tiger 07 for the past month. The wii control makes this game fresh all over again, however there are many inconsistances with the controls. Setting the control to easy you will never hit less than a straight shot, whereas setting to normal you will very rarely hit straight. Lastly to swing less than 100% is very difficult sometimes to get your player to swing at all takes a full swing, and player will sometimes swing all on its own resulting in a week shot. The concept is a good one and I am eagerly awaiting 08 due to its online capabilities and I'm hopeing to see some of the bugs worked out. With 08 scheduled to hit 8/20/07. I would advise to save your money for woods 08.Lire l'avis complet...

My first foray.

We just got the Wii for Christmas and I in particular enjoyed the golf game. I decided to check out other golf games available for Wii. The Tiger woods series seemed to be a popular choice. This is an older version, but seemed like a good place to start. It was. I enjoy this game a lot. The courses are a lot of fun and help vary your experiences. The swing is not too hard to get down and I have become a pretty fair virtual golfer on this game.

I have since bought the 2010 version and it is even more challenging, especially with the motion plus feature. I will still keep the '07 version because of a couple of courses are not on the newer game.

This is the game to get the golf enthusiast through the winter and a rainy day or two.

A fun game with some downsides.

The Good: Great use of the Wiimote. Many different game modes (for a golf game). Alot of fun when playing with friends especially. Pretty good character models. A great aiming system (save putting). Good distance graphics. Hilarious announcers.

The Bad: Tiger Woods is not the best golfer to use in this game. The crowd sounds are downright annoying. Aiming when putting is harder than it ought to be.

The Ugly: Very rigid graphics, nothing has a rounded edge. Sometimes when you pull back to swing your character will actually swing before you start the forward motion. Very finnicky and frustrating controls at times.

It's the best full length golf game for the Wii, but not by much. I'm upset that I paid full price for this game, I would only reccommend paying about $25 for it. I had such high hopes for this fully motion sensored game, and it just didn't deliver like I thought it should. It just seems like they rushed it to get it onto shelves. At any rate, it's still a pretty fun game.

Tiger Woods 2007 Wii......how the golf games SHOULD be!

This version of TW golf is GREAT! Animation is TOP notch. All shots are completely controllable. Five years of matches and tournaments to play plus extra challenges and game types! This is the ultimate golf game and it compliments the Wii perfectly. A MUST HAVE!!!
On the down side, Wii will control if your shot will fall in the cup or not on perfect shots that you make. Depending on your luck and skill level, the shot ZOOMS into slow-mo and may or may not fall in the cup. Most of the time it stops just inches from the pin. A real heart breaker...just like the real game.

Not friendly

spent hours trying to figure out how to play. yes I can swing a club and hit the ball. however it there are many questions that are not covered.
When playing I didn't realize that I would not be playing me with my own created person. I don't mind playing against Tiger but I don't want to be him.
Like I said... not enough instruction. Thanks for asking

Great game- very innovative and "fresh" with golf swing

This game is an extremely addictive game. I played Wii Sports golf for hours and loved it and wished there was just a little more substance to it- and then i got Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 and i got my wish. The complete detailed customization of characters is great all on it's own, but then once you begin to swing that wii remote- you feel like you really are on Pebble Beach playing golf with the pros.Lire l'avis complet...

Tiger Woods Wii

Very enjoyable game, lots of different game modes and ways to play your favorite type of golf. Pros include the gameplay, graphics, and realistic swing (almost like actually golfing). However, the only complaint that I have is the fact that every once in a while the remote sensor signals your backswing as a forward swing, and your hit only recieves about 50% power, which can ultimately be annoying and frustrating when you are playing Tiger for the ultimate championship or something along those lines. All in all a good game, well worth the money.Lire l'avis complet...
