It's the diet that you've heard so much about.

This book explains exactly how to change your eating habits for a healthier living. This is not a fab diet but a way of life that is easy to follow and very effective in weight loss and then maintaining your healthy weight. Take it from someone that has juggled weight throughout the years and has tried lots of different diet and exercise plans; this one works and is easy. In no time you will be looking great and feeling great with increased energy that will want to make you get up and move around. This self-proclaimed couch potato would rather be out enjoying life now. Not to mention that when you feel better about how you look, your significant other gets the benefits too!

South Beach Diet

To me this is one of the best diets around. It teaches you the correct way to eat good fats and good carbs that helps you to achieve weight loss. My sister and I started this diet the last week of Jan 06 and stuck to it religiously and we did it on the buddy system. I did most of the cooking because she is not a cook. I always tried to find something different each week to cook for us and this was one of the keys to our success. I have to date lost 55 lbs and am still working on losing 40 more. My sister is at her goal weight, losing 45 lbs and still continues to eat the correct foods that we learned about in the book. It makes since everything that Dr. Agatston talks about in the book, and we come from a family of diabetics, so I really think that this is helping us in that respect also. You eat a lot of foods that are on the low end of the glycemic index and it keeps your blood sugar level low which in turns keeps you from being hungry. I wish I had found this diet years ago, it is a new way of living for the both of us and it is something that I think we can continue to live with the rest of our lives. South Beach For Diabetics - A Great Diet Aid

Many of you know that the South Beach Diet is one of the best to come down the line in some time. It represents a sensible life style change that helps you peel the pounds off, and keep them off if you do that all important change of lifestyle habit! The three stages work for most anyone who is reasonably healthy. But did you know that doctors are now recommending South Beach for diabetics? It's true! My family physician told us about it recently. Because of the stricter dietary needs of diabetics, she recommended we not follow the restrictive dietary guidelines of the first stage. But stages two and three are excellent to help you lose the weight and then keep it off! She says it is almost custom made for the balance of foods needed in a diabetic diet. The way different foods break down into fuel for the body is important for diabetics. An even, constant breakdown from different foods is what keeps a diabetics blood sugar constant. My husband is the diabetic in our family. But I have no problem eating with him on this diet. It is a sensible diet, and not filled with tons of "secret" recipes to kick start your weight loss. Diet Book a Great Bargain

My wife wanted to keep her diabetic condition under control, her cardiologist suggested to her to get a copy of South Beach Diet by Arthur S. Agatston. I won a bid on eBay for a brand new copy of this book. Then my wife ssked me to buy another copy for her friend, so I won another bid for a brand new copy. Both copies cost me only a fraction of the retail price offered in the bookstores.
I joined eBay about a year ago because I had a keen interest in old German cameras. I spent hours browsing through the listings on eBay, it's lot of fun, so far I have bought 3 Agfas. I consider my first try to buy books on eBay a complete success. The diet book is a classic work, very popular among health-conscious people. I am personally convinced that shopping on eBay is the right thing to do, it not only saves my time, but also saves my money.

The South Beach Diet by Arthur S. Agatston M.D.

I had to buy a third copy of my diet bible as two copies are packed up from moving. This is the only book of its kind that makes sense. It fully explains the action of insulin and glucose on the body. For those of us who are insulin resistant and on the way to diabetes, it is a god-send. Very user friendly and very effective.
Dr. Atkins started this generation's re-interest and success with the low carb diet. However it was stringent and I never believed it was healthy for the body to be in ketosis. Effective yes, but the medical sources pounded it to death as totally unhealthy (that is until Dr. Atkins died, then it became THE diet). Dr. Agatson has used the basis of the low carb diet but with commom sense,removing the harshness by adding believable, factual reasons why it works, and by modifying the diet to a healthier status. What could be easier? Meat, eggs, cheese and a ton of green vegetables. The only thing missing in my mind is all the junk we have been told all our lives not to eat...white bread, white flour,rice, pasta, white sugar...junk foods and excessive fast-food. If in a pinch timewise, roll up a piece of cheese and sliced ham, leaf of lettuce..yummy. Nothing wrong with a nice grilled steak or chicken breast with a salad and asparagus with a little natural butter for flavor. So easy! If you are a cook, there are a kjillion recipes. If not it is still easy. If you travel, it is easy. Have a shrimp cocktail, broiled hamburger steak and steamed broccoli with a little shredded cheese. Eat as much as you need. Excess is excess no matter what. I was never hungry, kept pecans and peanuts on hand to snack, an occasional square of dark chocolate, lots of water and some Coke Zero. You have to give it a fair try, You have to eat enough. You have to read labels to watch for sneaky sugars and other carbs. A small amount of carbs helps keep your metabolism going.

The book is always inspirational for me (only the first half, I don't do recipes). Phase I is a little more strict but it is only 2 weeks to jump start your loss..I lost half a pound most every day. Starting with Phase II is fine too, you just won't have the rapid loss for incentive.

This is designed to be a lifestyle change, not a "diet". You just have to avoid places and feeding friends who aren't supportive a first. Like everything else, old habits are hard to break. I'm a slider, that's why I need to re-enforce myself by reviewing the facts from time to time.

the south beach diet

I got the book from the library but needed my own copy for all the great ideas and receipies. The diet works if you follow it and phase one does really take off ten or more pounds in two weeks. I'm on the next phase and have still been dropping a pound or two each week
very easy to follow. Just bring the food list of do and don'ts to go shopping with. Slenda is a good substituw for sugar and now after taste either.
sugar free ice pop make great desserts and feel llike you are not giving up everything

The South Beach Diet

I love this book and the diet really worked for us. After an acquaintance died in his fifties from heart problems and being overweight, my husband & I decided we needed to lose a few pounds and didn't really know how to go about it, so I bought the South Beach Diet. My husband lost 10 pounds in the first two weeks of no carbs (you can add carbs back in gradually). It showed us that we can live without lots of pasta and bread everyday - I went on vacation after being on the diet for two weeks and only gained back a pound of the 4 I lost initially. I found myself making choices that follow the diet guidelines of limiting bread, pasta, potatoes, and eating more vegetables and protein instead. This is not a diet, this book modify your bad habits.

What I can say if are not only good things about this book. After an annual checkup my Doctor called my attention about my weigh…I was 30 at that time and have over 40 extra pounds. I read the book and my live change, my husband joined me in this adventure and together we loss more then 100 pounds. We are puertorricans, therefore carbs are our life, but if you learn how to eat the correct ones…you will see the results immediately. With the list of food you can eat by every step, I design our own recipes and learn how to modify my grandma delicious but high in carbohydrates, fat and sugar recipes. This is not a diet this book teach you how to change your eating habits and keep it this way. A possible life saver

I was recently diagnosed with a form of liver disease. The specialist, upon making the diagnosis, immediately instructed me to go on the South Beach Diet. This has turned out to be one of the best choices I have ever made. Not only have a lost over 20 pounds, but, I feel healthier and the liver disease is healing itself. This book is a no frills look at the eating habits that are killing us, how to change them and how to maintain this new healthy way of life. With meal plans for all three stages of this diet, it is very easy to go on, and stay on this diet. Life Changing Book

This is an excellent diet for a healthier lifestyle. It goes into what sorts of things aren't healthy and why. There's a guide you can even copy off and take with you to the grocery store next time you need to shop for appropriate foods. It even suprises you by listing some foods people think might be fairly healthy but actually arent. There is a pretty extensive meal plan for each phase of the diet, and if you follow it, you WILL lose weight. I've read the book.. I've done the diet.. I've lost weight. Easy as that.
