Luv Scully! Let’s bring back more new episodes in 2021 and beyond! Chris Carter let’s go!

My favorite series of all 90s TV shows! I recommend it to the new generation of younger people to watch! Gen X got it going and now Gen Z needs to pick it up from season 11! Let’s get more episodes made to continue the legacy of the X-Files! Highly recommended! The shows are still great to watch any time or season! Great to relax with during a bad day at the job! Enjoy folks!Lire l'avis complet...

Develops nicely

The first season of The X-Files is not widely regarded as one of the show's best seasons. It begins with three good episodes: the premiere "Pilot", which introduces the relationship betwen the two main characters, Multer and Scully; "Deep Throat", which introduces the only other recurring character of the season; and "Tooms", a stand-alone episode featuring one of the series' most popular villians. However, the quality declines rapidly after this, and what follows are some of the worst episodes in the show's history.

Although there are some good episodes in the middle of the season like "Eve" and fan-favouries "Ice" and "Beyond the Sea", overall the quality of episodes is rather low. The season picks up near the end with episodes like "Darkness Falls", which showcases character development, and especially the season finale "The Erlenmeyer Flask", a stunning, taut episode among the best of all X-Files' episodes which brings all the developments of the season into focus and comes full circle with "Pilot".

"The Erlenmeyer Flask" in many ways epitomises what is best about season one: there is continuity and development from one episode to the next. Not only do the episodes get better by the end of the season, the characters and relationships get stronger as well. The show does an excellent job of developing the characters of Mulder and Scully and the viewer can see their relationship change and grow as the season develops. Simiarly, the elusive Deep Throat, as well as his motives and relationship with the principle charcters, is explored as the season progresses. This is the best part of season one of The X-Files: it is dynamic, not stagnant. Even though most of the familiar characters in The X-Files don't or hardly appear in the season, the show changes and improves as time progreeses, and this is the most satisfying part of the season for the viewer.

Great DVD set!!

I bought this season because my family used to watch X files years ago but I never paid much attention to it. And then I watched an episode on TV so I bought this to see more. Most episodes are VERY good. A few though are disappointing such as "SPACE". Others are some of the best episodes of X files. Such as "Squeeze" where a killer hibernates for 30 years then comes out to eat livers and can squeeze into air ducts. I love this episode. My family is more into these "Stand-Alone" episodes whereas I was more into the overall plot for the X files with the government conspiracies covering up UFO crash landings such as seen in the excellent "The Fallen Angel"Lire l'avis complet...

X-Files

This is the series that set the sci-fi fans to cheering. The thing I appreciated about it was the plausibility of the series, and the high quality level of realism. With all due respect to the Trekies in our midst, comparing the two is really not even a fair comparison. The series are polished, wonderfully acted and worth seeing time and time again. It certainly makes for an enjoyable view. My only question is HOW LONG does it take Scully to realize that there are many things in this universe that her application of the scientic method doesn't do justice to? Still, I realize that for the series to have the popularity it enjoyed, Scully has to maintain her perpetually skeptical role. A fine set of dvds, all of them.Lire l'avis complet...

Gillian Anderson one of the reasons the TV show lasted!

Gillian Anderson....As Agent Dana Scully of the X-Files...

... is one of the main reasons that the TV Show lasted so long, and was sucessfully transferred to comic book format in my opinion.

Gillian was born in 1968. She moved to New York when she was twenty-two, and started her career in theater.

She moved to Los Angeles in 1991, spending a year auditioning. Although she had once vowed she would never do TV, she ended up on a few shows including the Class of '96.

As a result of her guest appearance in Class of '96, Anderson was sent the script for The X Files at the age of 24, by Chris Carter.

The TV series eventually ran for nine seasons, and included one theatrical film.

Her role as Dana Scully kept the show 'grounded' in my opinion, so as to keep it interesting for a more mainstream viewing audience. Sometimes these sci-fi shows garner too much of a cult following that turns off the mainstream viewership and ends up withe show having a shortened run.

I remember the first X-Files Convention held in San Diego, the comic book was a very hot commodity and hundreds were signed as conventioneers stood in line for those signatures!

This DVD is an excellent start for someone wanting to have all the Seasons of the X-Files!

x files season one

taking on the x files was no easy task for me, i had a pre-disposition to think that it wasn't the best show on tv. most likely because my childhood friend was obsessed with david duchvony probably fueled most of that. but i was severely wrong. the x files was one of the most ingenius shows i have ever seen. the rich character development and addictive plots are just part of the wonder. the lighting, direction and overall writing was cohesive (as cohesive as science fiction mystery can be) and well developed. i highly recommend this for any one who wants to believe. if you weren't sure before, check it out now. you'll be surprised.Lire l'avis complet...

X-Files, First Season DVDs

I'm a long time X-files fan. I was part of the Fox Network fan board. Some of us eventually branched off to our own little group at Yahoo. I have almost every season recorded on VHS... up to the last couple of years. The show looks so good on DVD.. plus no commercials.. Yay! My cable and Internet were out the other day so it was a perfect opportunity to get out the Files. Even though I'd seen the eps before, it was so fresh like that I definitely didn't get bored. My fav is the Pilot. Fox and Dana were so young and still had that enthusiastic (spell?) "let's go get them" attitude.

I haven't checked out the extra features yet. The whole season fits compactly in a box about the size of a one VHS tape.. maybe a little wider.
