summary

This story is one that makes your blood race with anticipation. When Bella Swan arrives in Small town Forks to live with her dad, Charlie, she ends up meeting a mysterious, beautiful stranger, Edward Cullen. Bella is anxious to know more about him but she stays away after he reacts to her coming. He seems to be repulsed by her, and it makes Bella sad. So she keeps her distance (even though she starts to dream about him). That is until she has her first near death experience and Edward is the one that saves her(there is a time before this, but that wasn't a near death.), after that he seems to be saving her from every little thing, and Bella begins to notice that he is something else, something not completly human. After a little while she gets invited to a beach party in La Push, where she remembers Jacob Black. Jacob tells her stories of the Cold Ones, Vampires. The reason for this is that the Quiletes didn't like the Cullens' and she asked friend Jacob why. The next morning Bella searches her computer for things on Vampires looking for anything that resembles the Cullens'. Meaning beautiful, golden eyes that change, perfect, ect. When later that night she goes to Port Angeles she runs into a group of men that stalk her, so when she has to confront them she starts to think of a way to despite them. Just then, out of nowhere, a silver Volvo appears with Edward at the wheel. She jumps in and they make a quick exit. After she reassures him that she is okay he takes her back to Jessica and Angela. They eat and Edward takes her home, it was then when she decided to ask him about her latest ephiny, to ask if he is a vampire... After that they begin to hang out with eachother and they both fall for eachother. Then she goes to meet the family... Bella is watching the ever-so fast Cullens' play baseball, when three new Vampires show up. They catch a smell of Bella's excruciating scent and want her immeadiatly. That is when they go on the run and Bella is forced into hiding. But James anticipates it. He sets up a sting to get her to come alone. By using her weakness against her. Her mother. James bites her, after he uncovers to her something about Alice's past. Just then Edward interferes and saves her, taking the venom out of her and saving her life. She lives but is put in a huge body cast for a while... read the story its a lot better than this summary! I left out A LOT!Lire l'avis complet...

How to......

My 13 year old daughter doesn't read. Like so many children, she is addicted to screens. Ipods; TVs; computers; MySpace; Gameboys. Consequently, her grades suffer. She struggles with the English language and doesn't communicate well.

Then she heard about this book from her friends at school. It was a "cool" move to read this book amongst her peers. So, she begged me for it.

I tried not to get overly excited. I bought it on Ebay and saved about $7 compared to Barnes and Nobles.

It arrived quickly and in perfect shape. She took the book from my hands.

In five days the she had completed reading it. She loved it. She read the entire tome; approximately 500 pages. She made margin notes for words she didn't understand and later looked them up (on an electronic dictionary, of course, but hey, it's a start).

She now wants to read the second book.

I honestly don't care what the book was about. I know it's a vampire/love story. I heard some parts were graphic. I don't care.

All I know is that this is the first book that held my child's attention. For that I am grateful and I hope it's a start.

Clean, fun, well written, romance

I bought this book because I am in a book club and it was our groups selection a few months ago. I really didn't think I would enjoy reading a love story between a girl and a vampire, but once I started reading, I couldn't put it down!! I read the almost 500 pages in 2 days. The only down side was that the house work got behind and my kids watched a little too much TV those 2 days. I absolutely loved the book and have since bought additional copies for my sisters.
The book is very well written in an easy to understand language. It draws you immediately into the story and you almost feel like you are there. I loved how she ended the book and it took me a while to decide if I wanted to read the sequel “New Moon.” I am currently reading it (about halfway through) and so far, it has also drawn me in and I am loving it!
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for a clean, (I would probably rate it PG) fun, romance!! I would now consider it one of my favorite books!

Twilight by Stephenie Meyer

This book is awesome! Once you start reading - it is very hard to put down.
A friend recommended I read this book, and I'm glad I did.
It is the first book in a four book series, and each book gets better and better as they go along.
Once you have read "TWILIGHT" you will definately want to read the other three books, "NEW MOON" ,"ECLIPSE" and "BREAKING DAWN"
FROM INSIDE COVER:
When Isabella Swan moves to the gloomy town of Forks and meets the mysterious, alluring Edward Cullen, her life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn. With his porcelain skin, golden eyes, mesmerizing voice, and supernatural gifts, Edward is both irresistible and impenetrable. Up until now, he has managed to keep his true idenity hidden, but Bella is determined to uncover his dark secret.
What Bella doesn't realize is the closer she gets to him, the more she is putting herself and those around her at risk. And, it might be too late to turn back ...
Deeply seductive and extraordinarily suspenseful, "TWILIGHT" will have readers riveted right until the very last page is turned.
THE #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER
"Propelled by suspense and romance in equal parts, this story will keep readers madly flipping the paages of Meyer's tantalizing debut."

The Thrill of reading "Twilight"saga

I have to rate this saga excellent. Stephenie Meyers is a genius. To take a favorite reading subject as a "Vampire", Edward Cullen, who is no killer, but aspires to be as human as possible ,to draw no attention to himself, is in highschool, will never be older than 17 years old, so gorgeous(the attraction part of the vampire lie )speaks like an angel and add an unexpected Romance with a human girl,Bella Swan, the sheriff's daughter, who just moved back to Forks to get to know her Dad,and who falls so in love with Edward, and does everything she can to get Edward to change her into a vampire so she to will be immortal and never part from him. From day one,Edward becomes devoted to Bella and her safety. His main thought is to protect her from all harm, because He can read everyones mind apart from hers.,but try as he may ,to be normal,he takes her home to meet his family of vampires. Add another twist ,Bella loves Jacob Black,a Quiletee Native Indian, who lives in LaPush reservation near Forks, these two were children together, and whose dark secret is, he has a genetic predisposition. He turns into a werewolf but only when vampires are in Forks. Stephenie Meyers gives her readers an emotional ride not to be forgotten.
I have never read any thing so exciting. I want to live there. I keep returning hour after hour unable to put the book down. Never bored, sitting on the edge waiting to see what Edward,Bella and Jake are gonna do next. How everyone is involved in the lives of these two star crossed lovers. How it becomes a triangle of love between Jacob Black, Bella and Edward. How Bella is always hanging on narrowly missing a brush with death, I am half way into Breaking Dawn and I have to say "It is unbelievably fantastic and stirring. Because of these books, I love to read again. The next problem, where am I gonna find another story line as exciting as these have been. These books are a million times better than the DVD's. Do yourself a favor and read them all, and feel the Romance, feel the love, and share in these deep dark feelings, rocking your emotions around every corner of twists and turns..
Stephanie Meyers as fanciful or capricious, a person can be on her ideas . We never know what this fantastic creature will write next.
We love your mind

Twilight

I order this book for my daughter after several of her friends from school had told her about it. When she heard it was being made into a movie she was bagging for it. Since she understands Mom's rules are you have to read the book before you can see the movie. I was unsure of the purchase but when the book arrived I read it in one night. Great story line. Keeps you wanting to see what happens next. A story that both young and old can share. Cannot wait to take my daughters to the movie. A love story that makes you route for the normally expected bad guys. Vampires who still hold onto some human qualities. You start this book and do not want to put it down. My teenages loved this were asking for the next in the series before they were half way through the first. We would recommend this book to anyone who wants a love story, but does not want the same old boy meets girl plot. The book focused on Bella and Edward in great detail. I would of liked to of had more details about Edward's other family members. This book touched on thier relationships, I am hoping the remaining books show us more into thier past.
I recommend ordering this series for any teenage girl on your Christmas list this year.

Not Just For Chicks...

Short and sweet: A great read for vampire aficionados, regardless of its classification as a romance novel. I wouldn't have read it if I was told or knew up front that it was considered a romance novel primarily rather than vampire/fantasy, and I would've missed out.

It's not at all what the typical male would expect at the phrase "romance novel", and it's an extremely compelling story. It is obviously about the unexpected love between a vampire and a human, and it does dwell on its aspects overmuch from a male perspective, but all things being equal, it still holds its own as a very good vampire/fantasy novel with everything you'd expect of that genre as well.

And by the way... the movie isn't half as good as the book (isn't that always the way?).

PAGE TURNING BOOK - WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER HARRY POTTE

I bought the Twilight first book last week, and cannot put it down until I am done in less than 2 days. It's a romance. Sure, it's about vampires, but the vampire's facts are more like the "spice" of the romance. It was written from a teenage girl point of view who guzzling about the dazzlingly handsome, super humanly strong, unpredictably moody vampire. Every other page you'll find her faint at the sight of him, get dizzy by his dazzling eyes, and almost suffer from heart attack by his kiss. But I think that what made young girls (or the not so young - me ) crazy about this book. Everyone of us at least once had a dream of prince charming, that so handsome you forgot to breath at the sight of him - like Bella -, who always be there when you are in trouble, who is rich he drove the only volvo in town, so mysterious your friends want to drill you about him any time they see you together, who'll take you to dance, and oh.. throw in the facts that he also plays piano and compose a song for you to make a complete picture of Edward Cullen. Very Utopian. Very "in your dream only" material. That is why I said this book will never be another Harry Potter who tell a story of an average boy - who happen to be a wizard. But is it a good reading ? You bet!! I am already bidding for my second and third book (hope I will win) - on continue to dream ...erghh... read about Prince Charming Edward Vampire CullenLire l'avis complet...

WAY Better Than I Was Expecting & Not Just For Teens

I bought "Twilight" because when the t-shrits came out they sold out in a day and I was wondering what all the hype was about. I knew it was a movie coming out, but I had no idea it was first a series of books. So like always when I am curious I jumped right in.

I bought "Twilight" and less than 30 hours later (I did have to work LOL) I had finished. The entire time my nose was pressed into the book I had a smile on my face and sometimes I laughed out loud at the romantic tension and casual bantering between the main characters Edward Cullen (a "vegitarian" vampire) and Bella Swan (a girl wise beyond her years who takes care of her father). Although the books are geared to a younger "high school" audience the romance between the characters is all VERY clean. When she realizes what he and his "family" are, although she doesn't fear him in the least, her life is suddenly in danger from a pack of nomad vampires.

For parents I'd like to note although it is in its sence a "romance" it is I think, well written and not at all vulgur ("above the neck romance" I heard it described in an article). It is also good to realise that it is books like this series and the Harry Potter series that have gotten teens once again interested in reading which I think makes them noteworthy in themselves.

A gripping Novel

I picked the book up and really had no thoughts one way or the other. It is really an easy read and you can go through it quite quickly, before I knew it, I was enthralled in the book and had difficulty putting it down. I find it kind of "teenagey" but in no way did this detour me. The book is well written and pretty much G rated so far and I am half way through the third novel. The characters are so likeable and down to earth, despite the odd circumstances. It almost seems natural in some sorts, she did such a good job with the story, it was "almost" believable. The twists and turns keep you interested and wondering what will happen around the corner. I must say, each consecutive book, (I am on the third) is just as good as the first if not better, which keeps you gripped to it and addicted. A must read for those that like fantasy fiction, love stories and a very entertaining read. 1 out of 10, I would give this book a 8+.Lire l'avis complet...
