DISCS appear to be of LOW QUALITY.
For such a wonderful series, this Set while neatly packaged, proved to be a disaster. Little picture jumps occassionaly started to occcur. Then metallic buzzes followed by picture hesitation and full blown freeze eventually made the watching experience disgusting. These problems often continued and intensifed. I SHOULD DEFINATELY HAVE PAID MORE ATTENTION TO THE ONE REVIEW THAT DID SAY THIS SET IS OF LOW QUALITY....IT IS !!! Parts of the Set did play fine, but FOUR of the fifteen discs had major problems. The Season 1 Bonus material had problems followed by Season TWO playing acceptably. Then the Season THREE -- Disc 1, was very bad for Episodes 2 and 3. Leading up to SEASON FOUR, which was a Major Disaster, with BOTH DISC 1 and 2 (involving Episodes 2,3,4,6,7,8 being really messed up. The way the Discs appeared to play, I would expect different buyers to have likely experienced these problems on Different Discs and Episodes. Some lucky buyers may have received totally working sets.
This said, a general weakness appears "at least in my set", in the quality of these discs. This weakness may manifest itself with some difference, even on replays. The metallic "Buzz-Zaps" became a continual growl in Season 4. Also, after on-and-off hesitations to the picture, the entire discs would just freeze without any advancement. My Season FOUR, Episodes 3 & 4 ---Could-Not even be opened. The Discs themselves appeared clean, well packaged and without any scratches or other mars. They just appear to be of low quality. Playing on another DVD Player DID NOT correct the problems.Lire l'avis complet...
I feel like I got a fair deal for an awesome show
Great series. I've wanted a copy of the Tudors for a bit. The price was reasonable compared to some of the other more ridiculous pricing for the set. One episode had a bit of a hang-up with a scratch or something but after a few tries I was able to forward past it. Overall, happy with the purchase.Lire l'avis complet...

Ruthless & Bloodthirsty Tyrant King
This DVD series should have been rated R-there was so much nudity and sexual situations that I thought was rather shocking & unnecessary.
King Henry the 8th was a tyrant leader who was lustful and an egomaniac. He was also brutal with wives & his people who were in his leadership circle. He mandated the massacre of hundreds of village people in Ireland who did not want to give up being Catholic in their faith.
I would think him as bad as Hitler in England & no one could stop him.
There were times it was very hard to watch-and I will never think of this ruler in the same way again. After I finished watching this series I threw it out.Lire l'avis complet...

The set is ok ...but...
Was happy to get my set and started watching. To my disappointment when I tried to get subtitles because of hard of hearing I was given the option. But when trying to access I was told to check my tv or DVD settings. To no avail could I find them. So now I have to listen carefully and at an elevated volume. Great Series - Lousy Disc Quality!
Although this series is amazing, it isn't true to history. Watch it with entertainment in mind, & it's great! However, Take my advice & don't buy this 15 disc set. Buy each season separately, even if you have to pay a bit more for them. These discs are of an intolerably poor quality, as they are produced in a country south of the US. In my set, the first two seasons wouldn't play at all, & I ended up having to get replacements. Don't fall for the fancy packaging. They look good, but they can also become scratched by putting them back in the slots. Buyer Beware!!! If I'd known the headache I'd have with these discs, I would have done the smart thing & bought the seasons separately.Lire l'avis complet...
An excellent historical drama series!
We just finished watching this series and are planning to watch it again. The storyline, while not entirely accurate by historical standards, captures your imagination and makes you eagerly anticipate the next episode. The setting is beautiful and the costumes are probably the best ever produced for a television series. The actors become the characters and you never get the sense of "watching a play" as happens sometimes in period pieces. There is gore, to be sure, but it fits into the period and is not gratuitous. I wish Showtime would produce another series featuring "Bloody Mary" and Queen Elizabeth I. Lire l'avis complet...

Amazing show
I’ve watched and rewatched this show many times and every time I watch it, it’s like I’m watching it for the first time. Jonathan Rhys Meyers’ portrayal of Henry VIII is absolutely amazing no one could have ever played him better. Fantastic series and the boxed set is beautifully packaged.
This complete series of The Tudors was amazing! I had seen just a few episodes on TV and loved it so much, I had to buy the complete series. I was certainly NOT disappointed. Jonathan Rhys-Meyers played King Henry VIII perfectly. The real King Henry was very different, physically, to Rhys-Meyers but for an actor to make you forget that and really believe in the character is a testament to his ability. I highly recommend this series to anyone interested in history. I would also recommend it to anyone interested in excellent acting! All the actors played their parts perfectly and I can't imagine anyone not becoming hooked on this series after only one episode.Lire l'avis complet...
Perfection at its finest
This is a beautiful DVD set that will be treasured.
This Showtime historical series is so entertaining though it is true it is not completely historical in fact. That did not take away from this film whatsoever.
One of the best movies I have ever come across and my 57 years I couldn't wait purchase this DVD set.
I couldn't recommend any higher.
