Artsy fartsy film fails to impress movie patron.

This film was an attempt at some type of abstract art production that failed as a film. Not consistant with directors' previous excellent films so it disappointed. The characters came off as in a documentary but the production was very artsy and contradicted the acting style. Was the director high on drugs or something? ... A waste of good photography.Lire l'avis complet...

Worth it, if you are up for it!

This is definitely a love it or hate it film. I can certainly understand those who found it slow or boring. My wife did not like this film. Personally, I found it intriguing and thought-provoking. It is very much a work of art and not necessarily a work of "entertainment". I don't think it is meant to be entertaining as much as it is meant to create a moment of introspection for each of its viewers. This is a film that you have to prepare yourself for and be in the mood for. I would definitely recommend you view it at least once and with an open mind. For those that it resonates with, you will find this film has replay value as well.Lire l'avis complet...

I'm smart and open minded, but this film didn't appeal at all.

If you're looking for an etherical movie with no set plot except an un-narrated visual representative of a life, you found it. Throw in a name like Brad Pitt or Seam Penn who probably liked doing something different to add to their resumes and you have a movie that people seem willing to bid high for that will surely be best view while on some illegal drug. Yes, I get it, this is something for the mind of the view to interpret, but I was the one in the group encouraging people to continue watching it. Slow and disjointed, it was a good attempt at something different and invibing, but didn't achieve its goal. If you paid more than $15 like I did, you're not happy right about now.Lire l'avis complet...

Review: The Tree Of Life

A very "Artsy" kind of film. Similar to the movie- BoyHood. For me this really felt like a musical. Beautiful scenery but I'm one of those that just did not enjoy it. A family dealing with the death of one of their grown sons/brother. It plays out in fragments of memories so no real story line.Lire l'avis complet...

Tree of Life blu-ray

Excellent blu-ray for an excellent movie.

Beautiful picture quality and I loved the 7.1 DTS Master Audio sound.

This movie requires patience but you will be rewarded.

Didn't expect to be so deeply moved...

Like an organized sequential plot? check..
Meaningful dialogue? check...
"Wow!" action effects? check...

Well, this movie LACKS all of the above. So why 5 stars? Best I can say is I thank God that I'm capable of appreciating this monumental masterpiece.

This movie is dense and somewhat pretentious. Has some great moments though.

This movie is okay.

Amazing... and not for everyone

Film is art. This is an often forgotten truth for those who have come see film as entertainment only and do not have the patience required to allow a work of art into their deeper understanding; whether it's a painting or a film or a piece of music.

The opening titles give clues as to how to watch and listen and understand.

It's long and slow, and in the end worth every moment, if you have the attention span and openness of mind.

good movie

Perhaps it should be approached carefully by someone unfamiliar with T Malik. It is more loosely plotted perhaps than his other movies but quite rewarding if given the opportunity
