A Great New Take on an Old Story
After years of being banished from libraries and bookstores because of the racist twist put upon it by unscrupulous publishers in the 20th century, the story of the South Indian boy and the tigers is back, and it's better than ever. Illustrated by Fred Marcellino, who recognized that the simple 1899 story by Helen Bannerman had no racial slurs in the text, he illustrated it himself, changing the original only by giving the central characters names that had more South Indian flavor. So you get the charm of the old children's tale, and wonderful illustrations - in which the mean quartet of tigers are so funny that they almost steal the whole show.Lire l'avis complet...
