When the British do something very well, it's the best. I watched it for the first time ever the other night. I was not disappointed. Every one involved in this production put their very best into it; the music, acting, sets, locations, writing, lighting, camera work - you name it. It is good campy fun. Yes ladies may say it's sexist and chauvenistic but please lighten up. This show was made for sheer entertainment and a laugh, with intrigue thrown in the mix. So just sit back and enjoy it.
The attraction/repulsion relationship between Roger Moore and Tony Curtis creates tension thats both revved up and relieved by episodes of action and violence, all with humour and wit thrown in the mix. John Barrys theme song is rich with multilayers of melody in counterpoint. It bears repeated listening, and matches the fantasy of the high life and sophistication of Monaco and the southern coast of France that is presented here, in a manner that we all like to imagine if we were to go there ourselves in a time machine back to the late 60's. Recommended. Good to excellent.
I do wonder if Curtis and Moore felt this way about each other in real life as Moore makes almost no mention of Curtis in the commentary special feature recorded for episode one.Lire l'avis complet...

Dated but fun!

I watched this show as a child and wanted a chance to see it again. The banter between the two excellent leading men is a delight. Where else will you see Roger Moore and Tony Curtis together on the small screen. The show's fashions are dated as is its view of rich-living from the 1970s but these have a charm of their own. The out-dated, one-dimensional depictions of women are a little harder to look past. That said, I still enjoy it today as I did then.Lire l'avis complet...

The Persuaders persuaded me!!!

My husband introduced me to this show and I am glad he did. I love it.We had some of the shows but not complete so I had to buy this set to watch every episode in order. Tony Curtis and Roger Moore are brilliant.It is just the best and has everything! Intrigue,action,adventure,mystery,romance,comedy,fast cars, great car chases,wonderful fights, great music ect... Tony and Roger work together like pure magic. l also love it because it showcases the wonderful clothes and music of the 1970's. The dancing looks much different than now but very delightful.
If you like the Saint, The Avengers and James Bond you will love this show.
I recommend buying this set as I could watch it every week. I rate it 10 out of 10

The Persuaders, Set 1, with Roger Moore & Tony Curtis

I remember watching this series when it first aired on American TV. I enjoyed it so much then that I often thought about it over the years. I finally bought a copy of the show this past May. It has been over 30 years since I last saw it and I was surprised to find that the show was every bit as good today as it was when I first watched it. I highly recommend it to anybody who is interested in 60's and 70's television shows. Roger Moore and Tony Curtis make a great pair. Although the special affects in this series aren't as good as they are in current TV shows, the quality of the stories, the dialogue, and the humor will keep you glued to the show. On a five star scale--this is a five star production. I'd like to thank Rodney Powell of Diversified Sellers for giving me a spectacular deal. I paid $12.99 for Set 1 of the Persuaders, consisting of 4 DVDs. This was an excellent price given that everybody else is charging $68 for the same set. I felt this was perhaps the single favotite item i have purhased on e-bay.This british television show only aired for one season.It was on in the very early seventies and reflected the times beautifully.This is a show my dad and i watched together in my youth.Featuring Roger Moore and the incomparable Tony Curtis as his American parter in crime.In the space of one hour per episode, Brett Sinclair and Danny Wilde managed to solve all sorts of crimes and capers, mingle with beautiful women and drive Ferarri's and Aston Marin sports cars!! In all I received thirteen episodes plus some bonus commentary by Roger Moore and other key people in the creation of the show.I I paid approximately twenty dollars for this dvd set. I was amazed to find the complete series available on DVD.
I was reliving 1971 when I first saw the series. All the scenes
are great and the quality of this set is new, "A&E" presents this

Roger Moore and Tony Curtis are a great pair - their characters compliment eachother and they do a fun and entertaining job of it. I wasn't old enough to watch these shows when they originally aired, but I have enjoyed them immensely nonetheless.
