Easy to use but the first book is too detailed
There are 2 books. The first “The music kit: rhythm reader and score book”, deals with fundamentals of music rhythms. The topics are discussed in unnecessarily great detail. It progresses from basic rhythms to compound meters. The CD accompanying the book contains practice material that you can use to check your skills but I did not find it particularly useful. As a standalone book, the material presented is an overkill. It should be used as a companion volume to the Music Kit Workbook which is much more useful and well written.
The workbook can be used by a beginner or a more advanced player. Plenty of examples are provided for practice and repetition which is essential to learning the material well. The author covers the construction of major and minor scales, as well as musical intervals such as triads, chord inversions and transposition of written music from one key to another. References are made frequently to the accompanying volume by the same author, “The music kit: rhythm reader and score book.” which you will need to complete some of the exercises. What is lacking is a practice CD provided with some of the other books in this field.Lire l'avis complet...

great, excellant for beginners in music.
Goes through all the basic steps one at a time. Great for beginners. Very clear text, makes reading music easy. I bought it for a music class Im taking currently.
How can you play music without comprehending it? This book fixes that.
From the simple fundamentals of how to write complex symbols to actually learning scales and reading music while hearing it play in your head, this book along with its CD helped made the world of music a lot more clearer and colorful for me.Lire l'avis complet...
