Clavicula Solomonis (The Key of Solomon)

The Key of Solomon the King: Translated from Manuscripts in the British Museum by S. Liddell MacGregor Mathers.

Often pointed to as one the most influential books on 'magic' and the occult, The Key of Solomon the King, hereafter referred to as 'The Key', is by no means an easy read. If, like myself, you have a keen interest in either the occult or just King Solomon himself, The Key will be a fascinating, though difficult read. The book is split into chapters and plates, with each, frequently, referencing each the other. Don't expect any straightforward approach such as "If you wish to cast SPELL A do this and this and this", rather "If you desire the effects of experiment A, refer to the chapter on drawing circles if you must, refer to the chapter on the proper incense if you must." and so on in that manner. A basic understanding of old astrology will be helpful in dealing with the days and hours of the planets, and advanced linguistics skills will make understanding the Old English tonality much easier.

My final opinion is a solid 4/5 for clarity of translation and immaculate reproduction of the plates. If you're a fan of such things as the occult or 'magic' or even just ancient religion, what are you doing without this book in your collection?

The Key of Solomon the King

I'm no magician or conjourer. I am a Christian though, and I was curious as to why God would allow Solomon to practice "magic". Considering Solomon was an Old Testament king, and the wisest man alive at the time, I can assume it was the only way he could be God's representative on earth. This book is fascinating and amazing to read. There was alot of work and timing to what Solomon was doing and I'm glad it's now the New Testament era and all we have to do is pray!Lire l'avis complet...
