Not all Girlfriends, but most

Got the book when I was about 4 months pregnant and found it very enjoyable reading, even giggling at times in relating to those early pregnancy changes. A month later I'm almost done with the book and it is now prepping me for things to come/that may come. Every pregnancy is different and the author does bring in experiences of her girlfriends, but there were still a few experiences I'm having that she never mentioned. Overall - truthful, fun reading.Lire l'avis complet...

BABY SHOWER GIFT!

CHICK-Lit on the light side. . This is made for giggles and packs in some good quality information. It is made for the first time momma and it does make you giggle if you have already had kids. If you are looking for hard information on your pregnancy this is not the book for you. It is best placed as a baby shower gift. Everyone I know that read this was most interested in how to have sex when you’re big as a house. This is a toss away book and is best for the momma under age 35.

RICH CHICKS specializes in books for women and we read hundreds of books every year! We have left many book reviews all over this site.

Buy a different book!

I do not think that this book was very informative. All I got out of reading it is that women have hormones that make them very moody, you are going to gain weight during pregnancy, and your breasts are going to get bigger and more tender. Then when you lose the weight, your breasts will sag and it may take up to a year or more to lose all of the weight that you put on. Wow! It wasn't like I didn't know that before. Also the author writes in the book about what pregnancy tests used to be. She says that it is called the rabbit test because you inject the rabbit with your urine (which this part is correct) and if it died, you would are pregnant. That is true but not the whole story, because the rabbit died no matter what because it had to be sliced open to see the effects of your hormones on the gonads of the rabbit. I feel that I lost intelligence on this one, and I sure don't need to lose any.Lire l'avis complet...

Greatest pregnancy book in my collection

I love this book. I bought it 8 years ago with my first pregnancy, and have given it as gifts to all my pregnant girlfriends since. That's what this purchase was. It's so informative; it tells you practical things the other books don't tell you, like the amazing (and sometimes scary) changes you'll see in your body. It gives you basic information like what to pack to take to the hospital for you AND the baby! None of my friends were as helpful as this book was as far as information and support. AND it made me laugh OUT LOUD! A good sense of humor will really carry you through the roller coaster ride of pregnancy and Vicki Iovine has it and shares it!!!!! AAA++Lire l'avis complet...

A must read for first time moms! love love LOVE this book!

I picked this up to read during the first few weeks of my first trimester and put it down, that early on it was like reading a marriage book on your honeymoon: I wasn't there yet. BUT near the end of the second trimester I picked it up again and found a friend who walked with me right into the unknown with advice and humor and tips nobody'd ever mentioned and I'd certainly never thought to ask. Excellent as a baby shower additional gift for the mommy or just to pass on to the next prego in your life. My favorite pregnancy book. I couldn't get through every page of the other Expecting books though they were helpful from the medical point of view, Girlfriends Guide answered the not-so-medical questions that I had with a cool, calm and collected voice. I can't praise this book enough.Lire l'avis complet...

A must read for pregnant women

This is such a great quick-read guide to all that you need to know when you're going through your pregnancy. My wife read this book cover to cover laughing the whole way through. The author is hilarious and straight to the point...no sugar coating here. Anything and everything you need to know about what to expect from getting the right clothes to wear during those awkward months to what to pack for the hospital stay to what the real deal delivery is like is in here written in an honest straight forward way. We highly recommend this book!Lire l'avis complet...

Everything you need to know, and laughter too

This book is FANTASTIC! It goes trimester by trimester, week by week and explains a lot of the things even our mothers won't tell us. The author is by far the most amusing author that I have read in a while.

I am only 16 weeks pregnant but already consider this book my best friend and support through my pregnancy so far!!

I highly, HIGHLY recommend it for every pregnant woman, or any woman considering pregnancy.

Down to earth info

This book gives you more of the "for real" things to expect during pregnancy. All that stuff that only your close friends will tell you, and some stuff they may not. The book I got with it, the baby gear guide is also great because it lets you know what is really not necessary and provides an argument for both sides of optional items. It's been one of the best non-medical sources of information I've gotten since I found out I am pregnant.Lire l'avis complet...

Stuff no one wants to tell you about but is REAL life when you're expecting. Some of it will make you LOL! Great read!! From a mom that knows... I've been there 4 times! So if you're not sure if you need another book to read during this pregnancy thing YOU DO - GET THIS BOOK!Lire l'avis complet...

Humorous Look at Preganancy Thru the Woman's Eyes

I bought this book because I read it while I was pregnant and I have a couple of friends that are currently pregnant that I wanted to give this book to. This book is so much better than What to Expect While Expecting since this is written from the woman's point of view not from the medical view. Vicki Iovine uses humor to help women cope with everything from morning sickness to stretch marks and beyond. For me, What to Expect just made me paranoid with everything that could possibly go wrong. This book tells exactly how the woman feels while being pregnant and after birth without making you think every little pain is something going wrong. I would recommend that anyone who is pregnant read this book and her other books as I am currently reading The Girlfriends' Guide to Toddlers..Lire l'avis complet...
